HUH?

Are you refering to the stock lizards? The M2 and M3 ratings are fro proline tires. Those are strictly what proline calls ther compounds, Just as the Losi claws come in the blue compound.
If you are refering to the Axial tires the soft compound is called the race compound.

Is this what you were talking about?

AH ok. Well if you put them on the proline scale m2 (soft) m3 (super soft). They would be like a M0 or M-1. But its not so much even the compound as it is the tread pattern and smell
Maybe we cant help. What type of rock and what kind of use are you going for?

i quite often crawl around on crumbly type stuff which a good tread would help but i went to a new spot on the weekend which was river rocks fairly smooth and when they got a little wet it was like skating on the stock rocklizards

It really depends on the terrain your crawling on and what your looking for in a tire. I only run comps so I run the Losi Rock claws.

But if your crawling on a bunch of different terrain, most will probably suggest the Mashers.

Not sure which compound most guys run on the mashers. The softer the compound, the more there going to wear out but I don't know if there is that big of a difference on wear or not. Considering what your running now, you cant really go wrong with any of the Claws, badlands and hammers on these pages.

i think im going to go with the badlands for my first tyre upgrade they look ok for all-terrain and seem to be getting good reviews
just the compound? id think that m3 may be to soft for the little lugs and if the rock lizards are around m0 or worse m2 will be a huge upgrade anyway

Yea, also, the softer you go, the more roll your going to get out of the lugs when you side hill.
