I've been toying with the idea. Got to many irons in the fire to start on them anytime soon. I think it's worth doing, another option.

First of all....why try and lighten, when we are all trying to add weight to the wheel area?

Second, once the CF started to hit the rocks, it would splinter and get all torn up, losing its strength.

i already have enough weight in my tires/wheels and i dont really even have any scratches on my rock rings and have had my axial for well over a year and some months, just thaught it would be a good idea

Why does everyone want weight in the wheels? I would get the lightest wheels possible without sacrificing strength and instead have the weight in the axles. Heavy wheels just put much more stress on the drivetrain.
