I hope the tires do justice to the rest of the rig. That thing is badass  |
That thing is frigging wicked!! Can we get a pic with the hood off? Lou |
:shock:OK this thread got a little outa hand, and nobody else posted any photos, so I moved it. Heres a little rundown of what I'm running. *RC4WD R1 transmission (with custom Dig) *Hyperion Outrunner motor (3125? or something like that) *Punisher drive shafts (newest version) *Mamba Max ESC *2 cell Lipo (3500 mah) *metal rod ends on custom links *XTM mammoth shocks *2 st125 JR servos (need to upgrade to 1/4 scale with the new rubber) *All aluminum chassis *axles - Aluminum Hi clearence axles made by me out of XTM XLB center diffs, CVD shafts, and drive cups. *weighs in at almost 15 lbs, and has a final reduction ratio of almost 300:1 At 300:1, this thing is without a doubt a crawler. The lack of excesive wheel speed keeps things from breaking (with the old Moab XL's:lol:), Unless something binds, then I break a CVD joint. The reason my driveshaft isnt there is because I am upgrading part of my dig setup. As soon as I finish it, I will post some "naked" pictures of the chassis. I cant quite drive over the coke can, but its close... The tires... I cant wait to wheel with them, I think the extra size will make up for the fact that they are a little harder than my moab XLs were. First impresion is WOW. I think they will totally change my rig for the better. The XL's were a little small for my setup. Stay tuned for pics -Brian |
R1 tranny, wow, we never made that many of them :-) |
The Rock Crusher 4.0 picture thread Any progress on the dig so you can post the 'naked' pics? How are the tires working out on this rig....rubber compound soft enough?? Can you give a more detailed description of the axle build? Thanks a whole lot!!!!! |

Any idea how many you made? I see you stoped selling them... I hope to finsh the new Dig piece this week, so maybe some more photos this weekend. I'm making the Dig drive unit out of 17-4 PH stainless steel (heat treated) and it takes some time. I havent used the tires yet....... Stay tuned -Brian |
R1 was very expensive, because the amount of shop time it took to make one. But the gear is very smooth and its very beefy. from R1 we learn to make R2. We probably sold no more than 10. We might still have some laying around. But its big and bulky, doesnt fit 2.2 size class well. |
I'm sure that rig performs really well, but the axles look awful - sorry dude but they do |

Please, post some pictures of the AX10 you "built". I would like to see some of your fabrication skills. I'm sure if I anodized my axles green you would like them... |
