The foam shapes are used to simulate lowered tire pressure which in turn allows the tire to conform to the rocks. When using regular foams most will star cut the foam to get this effect. How much weight will vary from rig to rig. I have 6 oz and 3 oz front and rear respectively. You'll want more weight up front. Hope this helps.

you want to simulate low tire pressure? cut the foams in half vertical, make them as wide as the rim,now your simulating low psi.
never understood the star cut thing.

It's meant to simulate airing down for off-roading, not a half-flat tire.
