tire sizes and rim sizes

I am new to othe RC scene, but I would like to start learning... My first question is about tires and wheels. how do these sizes compare to one another, and how are they measured?

Also, I know on 1:1 trucks, they have 4 lug, 5 lug, 6 lug, 8 lug,... How are the wheels on RC cars measured, and how are they different.

Lets say I wanted to run those big ond Jumbo Kongs, what size rim would I have to run? Is there a rule of thumb to go by? On my full size rigs, I generally go to a 12.5" tire on an 8" rim, and a 16.5" wide tire on a 10" rim,... Can someone teach me about the tire and rim sizes on these RC cars?

These moab tires seem to be all the rage right now. Where can you get them, What sizes do they come in, and what rims can I use?

How about gllue VS a true beadlock? I need all the info on this... Thanks
Dima

3 basic catagories:
2.2- 2.2 inch rim. Standard size for stadium trucks and such

Standard Maxx- The wheels and tires that are standard for the T Maxx. (I think they are 3.2 inches)

40 Series- 4 inch diameter rims.

Jumbo Kongs are Maxx sized rims.

The Moabs come in 2.2 and 40 series sized rims. So it depends on what sized crawler you would like to build. 2.2 is used more for scale TLT based crawlers and Maxx and 40 series are more for the TXT and Clod unlimited sized crawlers.

Hope this helps.

Try the search function and you can find some more info.

Too much rim and too wide for a 12.5... If you are wheeling that thing, a 8" rim works WAY better, but personal preference really.

2.2 wheels- They fit on a 12mm hex which is used on a TLT. The wheels are 2.2" in diameter. All kinds of tires will fit these wheels from about a 3" diameter tires to a 5.5" tire. AE makes a 3 piece wheel that works like a beadlock in this size. Pro-line makes moabs for 2.2 wheels. The tire to have in this size- Pro-line Moabs 2.2

3.2 wheels- They fit on a 14mm hex used on a Maxx, Twin force or X Factor. They can also fit on clod with adaptors (see vendor forum for details). Tire sizes range from 5.5" to 8.5". Jumbo kongs will fit on these wheels. Also, Maximizer makes a bead lock in this size. The tire to have in this size- Losi LST's

40 series- These are 4" diameter wheels made by Pro-line. Pro-line is the only company using this wheel and tire size. Tires range from 6-7". These is two types of hexes, 14mm or 23mm. Pro-line sells adaptors for the 23mm hexes that fit Maxx trucks and Bender makes 23mm adaptors for a Clod/TXT. (see vendor forum) Pro-line makes a beadlock and a moab in this size. The tire to have in this size- Pro-line Moabs

Clod/TXT wheels- These are 2.6" diameter wheels that only fit a Clod or TXT because of their 5 hole patterns. Tires range from 5.5" to 6.5" The tire to have in this size- Pro-line Giant Tracs

8 inch is better for a 12.5 it makes the tire bulge out a little from the rim
also if you ever bust a bead on the trail its harder to re-seat on a wider rim.

Revo wheels are NOT the same as 40 Series. 40 Series are 4" in diameter and Revo's are 3.8" in diameter.
Savage wheels are the same diameter and hex as a Maxx (3.2"d, 14mm hex).
