Default ?s about tire foams

I'm just wondering what the majority of people here are doing with their tire foams. Are you removing them completely, trimming them down, drilling the hole in the rims bigger to let air out quicker, leaving the same as a normal R/C tire?

Just wondering what the best way to get some flex out of the tires is. I know crawlers don't have to go fast, so the foams seem kinda unneccessary to me, but just want to double check.

Thanks in advance

It depends on the tire but most of the time I just throw them out.

Yes, no, maybe so...

As a rule you want the tire to compress no more then about 1/2 the height if the tire while supporting the weight if the ready to run crawler at rest(batteries and all). If it can do that w/o foams that would be best. Otherwise use the foams to achieve that with cutting/modding the foams or what-not.

Also keep in mind a bouncy tire on a crawler is a bad tire on a crawler.

Ok, thanks. Sounds like my best bet is going to be trial and error. I was thinking of just pulling the foams out completely but after what Pinchflat said, there's more to it than just removing the foam and calling it good.
