I was having problems as well. What I figured out was that the bead was folding back under instead of going into the slot. I found that if I pushed the sides of the tires all the way down past the rim so that the bead was being bent out a little bit towards the inside of the wheel, then put the bead lock on, it would force the bead down into the slot that way, and that solved the problem.

Mine were tough to mount on DH's as well, you just have to take your time and make sure that the bead is fully seated in the groove before you tighten down all the bolts.

Interestingly enough, the same set of tires mounted very easily on SLW's, even with overstuffed foams.

Now for driving. I've watched these tires very carefully for a bit now. When Jake and Nabil were in Prescott, AZ for the Arizona Summer Shootout, I watched how these tires worked on the granite of Watson Lake. I've watched the tires in a number of videos since the team drivers started running one-piece prototypes. I've been wanting a tiny-lugged, "thousand fingers" type tread for a while now, so I've been very hopeful that these will do what I'd been hoping they would do.

But my tests for grip will be objective because there are, like we all have, some known climbs where some tires spin and chew and never hook up, others spin and chew and eventually hook up, while others walk right up. That's where I'll be testing.

I've already seen in person, the amazing smoothness of digging and burning with these tires. The big-lug tires will get to bouncing during a dig as the lugs flex and rebound. These little lugs just keep a smooth, steady, bounce-free spin during a dig or a rear burn.

So far so good.

You totally described what happened today! Found an amazing foam setup
with these bad boys.

Front:
1" DH Pro Comps channeled. full wrap with four bullets, each front weight in
at 15oz. Huge front dual stage Nova 5.5 inner foam with the Dual stage pro-
line outer wrapped around. The foam comes in at around 6" tall, very full claw
but with a nice sweet spot in the middle to help it climb....

Rear:
1" SLW, about a half wrap, each rear weight in at 8oz...Running a F400 in
rears.

Went out today and crawled the same spot as always....I try a particular side
hill gap that I have only completed one time. Today, walked threw it like six
times. I'm so amazed how the claws perform with a full foam setup...Amazing, I'm
sold on the Boss Claws...The red compound looks brand new still after three runs!

A softer setup version would be Losi Pinks in rear with Nova 5.5 front...But I
much prefer the oversize front dual stage and F400's rear

Quick cell pic.

i like them. it was whole different way of driving. i was tipping over more than usuall. i just i was so used to the wide footprint of the sedonas and the way they collapsed. i did mount them in a rush before tonight comp but i just used the stock foam wich wernt too bad for me since i had a wrap of lead on the inside wich filled in the air gap. also i lowerd the rig. now it was performing, it amazed me what things it was able climb. being that my first run was a comp i did pretty well and even better afterwards free crawl. i borrowed the tires from a buddy, hopfully i wont have to give them back.

Nice pics Greg. Good luck in Colorado

Unfortunately, I won't be at Red Rocks. Rubbaneck is going to have to hold down the fort for Team Losi

Great info in here.

I've got a question on venting the tires. Is everyone adding vent holes similar to what you ran with other tires when using these on DHs and SLWs?

Thanks

That's what I've done... However, the DH's now have a vent hole in the rim too.

Thought I'd throw this out there......

First set of foams I ran in these today was Nova's 5.5 with the inner foam cut down to 1.75". I will be getting some different inner foams to try different combos. Tires seem to do best when stuffed full with a small soft contact patch.

Should add that I'm running MSD wheels and the total weight is 14oz front and 10oz rear.
