How narrow is too narrow for wheels?

I narrowed my pede rears today. I cut the bead ring off, and cut about an inch of the wheel off, and slid the ring back on. Now they are narrow as hell.

I was just wondering if there is any disadvantage to having a tire too narrow. I like the way it looks, but I don't want any problems. I don't see any reason why it will be a problem as long as I glue them properly.

i made mine to where i could put stick on tape weights in the middle. they are perfect.

Moved to tires and wheels because I can push AdamF around! :flipoff:

Too far narrow might take you past the point of that sidewall goodness that you were after, and put you back into the not so good place that resembles the one that you started off in, and thus defeating the whole purpose of narrowed wheels in the first place!

Shiat!

WTF did you just say?

Here are some pics

I have a bunch of extra rims, so I can start over if I need to.

In translation - Knowing you, you went to narrow and now they won't work worth a sh!t.

AdamF 03-17-2006 09:58 PM

I know! That's why I came here asking!

Basically, when the wheels are too narrow, the tires will either flop over to one side, or not have enough flex. Your's look to be borderline.

lol if ya mess the rims up then ya should get a narrow tire such as a MOAB!

EeePee 03-18-2006 08:45 AM

To me, because the tire is deformed, you went too far.

Crawlerguy851 03-18-2006 03:56 PM

I think you can mount Geolanders, or give them to me. :flipoff:

Crawlerguy851 03-18-2006 04:07 PM

Seriously, I'd buy them off you.

AdamF 03-18-2006 06:05 PM

Um, no.

Well, just because you said that, I'm going to run them like this. :flipoff: Can't hurt nothing, I'll just get another set of rims and cut them up if I have to. No sense in wasting good chrome if I don't have to :flipoff:
