Default PROJECT SMASHOVER cut'n'shut inside

Well, i was contracted by my buddy Dezmoon to perform a little tire experiment. A long way back Dez and myself we scheming on cut'n'shut ideas and he found the Losi Smasher 320 tires that are the same dimensions as the Losi eclipse 320 that are popular in making Boss Rovers. So he gathered up the needed Losi Smashers in Red compound and Soft white Rovers.

The surgery began last night and so far these tires are turning out to be pretty sick looking. They feel really good in hand and I think they will work very well in most conditions, but will really shine when rain and mud are present. Think of a taller red compound boss claw with a more open chevron style tread pattern. The plan is for a 5-3/4" tall tire.

Away we go...

Started with some rovers and Losi Red Smashers:sorry for the cruddy pictures...cell was all I had on hand

I cut the tread out of the Losi Smashers:

fast forward...here is a finished tire. 5-3/4" tall SMASHOVER! mounted on a 1" wide wheel

I have to finish up the other 3 tires and then they will be thoroughly flogged. After a good test session we will report back.

cheers!

Sick looking tire guys, nice design sounds like this is not only the first set but last set all in one. To bad I really liked the look of these and was starting to itch about building a set.

Can't wait to hear how they work.

I took a trip to TURBO'S house the other night to snatch up some goodies,,my super,,and some SMASHOVER'S,,i could not wait to get these things mounted up,,so after a few hours of bull shittin and checkin out what TURBO'S been workin on i split,,50 minutes later i started to get these mounted up,,origonally i wanted to mount the fronts on a DH v1 wheel and a SLW v1 .7 out back,,but with no luck,,the tire mounted up fine,,it just had wrinkles in the side wall,,i dont like that,,so they are on DH v1 on all corners,,im using Dos Piezas foams by PIT BULL which by them selves are more than enough foam for the tire,,pics to follow...

tire+foam for all you guys concerned about your weight.....

on the rocks,,i went to UNREAL the next morning for a lil indoor session,,i ve been on there course a bunch so im very familiar to it,,i know where the trouble spots are,,so i went to work,,first off let me start by saying i forgot to bring extra vp slugs for testing,,i only had 2 slugs per frt wheel..not enough by far,,how ever they still did awesome,,i just had to approach everything a lil slower than if i was weighted properly,,and i definitely feel i need a 1'' wide wheel in the back,,just my preference,,over all im very pleased with them,,

ok,,so after a year of having these I finally really started to pay attention to these tires,,and boy im sure glad I did,,I spent some time getting used to them at home,,and finally nailed the wheel widths and foams,,DH1's up frt and 1.35 slw v1 out back,,Dos Piezas Dual stage foams from PIT BULL and some other small tricks..so after really feeling confident with them I decided to run em at a club comp,,1st course I ran on I nailed a -19....and went on to a close 3rd place finish,,my local club took some time off over the winter and I got back on these this past weekend and took 2nd in our comp...so Im gonna continue running these untill I find out what they dont like..but for now..Im stoked I have the only set...
