| water filled tires
Hey guys, I'm running the stock 1.9 flat irons' on stock axial wheels on my scx10.. I was running about 4.7 oz of weight in each of the fronts with the stock foams. I got a crazy hair, more like bored, and took the weight and foams out and fillled them with water. still have the weight and gives em' a bagged feel.. Just curious if anyone else has played around with this idea??

Interesting idea.. how's it working out? Would suck to spring a leak out on the trail. How full are they? How'd ya fill them? I'm thinking you'd have to install one bead then lay on it's side and fill from the other side then seal that one up, right? |

Just got back from trying them out. Didn't work out too bad! Haha, ya, springin a leak would suck! Ya, I installed the front bead then filled the sink full of water and submersed everything and made sure the air had totally escaped from the tire and installed the back bead under water. They seem to do good on the rocks and pretty decent on the dirt/mud.

I run about a half tire of water in the fronts and a third in the rears of my 1:1 buggy, never tried it on a RC before. |

Interesting idea. How much weight do you think is added when filled with water? |

Water and bb's are old tech. So are airsoft pellets. Proper foam and weight tuning are whats happening now. Its also more reliable and repeatable. Having said that, my Bronco climbs like a goat once I've run it through some water and let the tires fill up (yes I still run foams, and yes, the wheels/tires are vented). Only problem is when all the water squirts back out.

Ive also noticed my rig crawl better when the foams get soaked, but thats a weight thing. Ive run nothin but air in tires and had great success but never tried just water lol. I like proper foams and weights personally but water might be a good budget fix. Matt |

We use it as a "tuning aid" when pulling weights with atv's. If you ever see a stock wheeler pulling close to the mod guys just kick a tire once. |

BB's, Air, water......... it's all been tried and everyone that tries it goes back to foams. If your die hard on trying it, or just wanna have something to do you can search the archives of RCC for some ideas. Like allot of things, just cause it works in 1:1's doesn't mean it'll work here. | Just a quick update, if anyone's interested, haha. After running this setup on my scx, I've come to love it. Adds enough weight to the front and still let's the tire flex. In my area we run on lots of sand stone and the mud has lots of clay. So far, this cheap setup has done pretty dang good!

| Filling up a Proline Hammer with 6oz by weight of water takes up about half the volume of the tire.
