Default -- Crawler Innovations - 4" Tall, 1.9 Comp, Panther SC Raptor Pin Tire Cut N Shut --

In effort to keep raising the bar and pushing new designs for better performing tires, here is the latest creation we are testing. It is a Panther Short Course Raptor tire that uses a 1.9 Flat Iron sidewall. The Raptor tire is cut, reduced, assembled, belt sanded internally and has the pattern trimmed. We are testing the Super Soft compound and the Soft Compound currently. I am working on a few different pin tire designs and compounds from Panther.
On to the pictures:

Are you using the M2 or the G8 Flatirons for these Eddie? Also are you sanding the inside of the super soft compound?

I prefer the M2. It has a better bonding between different brands of rubber than the G8 compound. I find the G8 compound more difficult to work with.

Yes, I am belt sanding the inside of the super soft compound. Panther uses a lot of ribbing to reinforce their tires. Crawlers don't need that so I remove it and the tire becomes very pliable.

I was thinking of making up a pair of super soft switches, since they are on sale atm.

Gotta love when you can support that local labor!

So I finally finished this set of tires. I have only run a few battery packs on them, so they are very fresh. They are definitely a wheel speed tire. They do not like slow crawling. They want to be driven in constant motion with little bursts of wheel speed.

Here are the specs:

RTR Weight as pictured: 3 pounds 3 ounces
Each Front:
8.8 total weight
1" wide bead lock
Medium Single Stage Foam Narrowed to 1.5" wide
Super Soft Compound Panther tire
M2 Pro-Line Sidewall

Each Rear:
5.8 total weight
1" wide bead lock
Firm Single Stage Foam Narrowed to 1.35" wide
Soft Compound Panther tire
M2 Pro-Line Sidewall

This is one of my test lines I use. It's very steep, and the iron ore is sand stonish in that it will have traction for the first few passes, but after that the surface becomes sandy and slick. I start at the bottom and climb up and over the peak. These tires crawled it well.
