I finally got around to do this mod on my losi night crawler plastic rims. Such an awesome mod instead of buying new rims just to be able to use vp hubs, plus I wanted to keep plastic rims for now. What I used for drill bits is first a 4-40 drill bit (from a 4-40 tap/drill set) which fits perfect in the vp hub between threads, but you have to be careful not to hit the threads, definitely should use a drill press for this. Then used a 3/32 to open a little more following a 7/64 which is perfect for a 4-40 bolt to thread into. Just take your time making sure you line up the drill bit into the hole so it all fits in the end. After that 15/32 for center hole so you can use a 7mm deep socket to tighten down the wheel nut. Thats it, super easy, saves you money. Of course you will use up your time, but after you get first one down, rest goes pretty quick.

Like to thank Mr. V for posting this and Travis C for showing him.

Huge thanks to MR.VERTICAL and everyone that posted.

I am not looking to do the VP mod (yet) but the posts and info allowed me to understand how to Narrow my 3.8 40 series wheels and not worry about them exploding.

Fyi. You can buy cheap slw style hex hubs from china now.

Or here is a slightly different option. It removes the hex and just uses the pin.

it would be nice if the pictures that actually show how this mod is done weren't blown away by photobucket.

I'm using some of the Photobucket fix browser add ons and I dont see any missing pictures at a quick glance. I see giant orange wheels in the post above yours

Check out the add ons and see if one works for you
