Kinda no longer makes it a cheap mod anymore!:lmao: |
Re: Drill press rim mod's with VP hubs McMasterCarr also has 1/4'' solid delrin rod for .55 cents a ft. You will need a 1/4'' drill guide to center drill the delrin, but this is very cost effective for making your own spacers.I know they make 5/16'' delrin tube with the proper i.d. for a 3mm screw."thumbsup" |

When you say ''oversize'' 1/4'' is that more like 5/16''? I've seen some @ the hobbyshop before that i believe they got from Mcmaster that was labled 1/4'' and had the hollow hole that a 3mm would tap into, but it was actually bigger then 1/4''. |

Yes its. 040" oversized and the 1/8" hole is .040" under sized. |

Re: Drill press rim mod's with VP hubs 4 Attachment(s) so i gave this a try using my stock AXIAL wheels and i dont think it came out to bad i still need to get ahold of some hubs then make my new face plates. i also need to buy some spacers i gave a try at making my own. well i dont have a drill press so i tried this with the drill it went fairly well but next time i think i will use a 4"grinder with a cut off wheel insted of the dremel tool thanks for showing me how to do this it saved a few bucks sesne i dont need to buy new ones now |
Re: Drill press rim mod's with VP hubs Nice job using what you have to get the mod done they came out great"thumbsup" |
Re: Drill press rim mod's with VP hubs I followed your lead and came up with these"thumbsup".3oz lighter (per wheel)than my slwv4's, and tons more room for knuckle weights. Thanks http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/a...rojects005.jpg http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/a...rojects022.jpg |

Re: Drill press rim mod's with VP hubs I use two kinds, for the solid faces i use 1/8in acrylic and for the drilled out faces i use 3/32 polycarbonate. But be carfull with the acrylic it is a little brittle"thumbsup" |
Re: Drill press rim mod's with VP hubs Had a few extra slw laying around so to the drill press i go :lmao: http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1337706195 http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1337706191 http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1337706187 http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1337706184 http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1337706178 |
That came out nice. What did you use for the yellow face? Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk 2 |
Re: Drill press rim mod's with VP hubs That would be 1\8in acrylic,so far they are holding up i hav'nt taken a big fall with them yet. Some say they might be to brittle. |
Are you using spacers between the hub and the face of the wheel? Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk 2 |

Re: Drill press rim mod's with VP hubs Very cool mod. I have a set of proline beadlock slash wheels with shredded hex's I think I will see if this will work on them. Thanks for the great write up. |
Re: Drill press rim mod's with VP hubs I am on this also with some old axials that worked well last night. I am debating what to use as spacers to make sure they are exact, yet not insanely expensive. I have a pretty good small project chop saw and will probably get some aluminum tube and just be really careful to make sure my cuts are precise. |
