Yes, I think I will go that route. Axial spacers are over $4 for a pair plus shipping!!! At that rate I will have over $60 in just spacers!

Kinda no longer makes it a cheap mod anymore!

McMasterCarr also has 1/4'' solid delrin rod for .55 cents a ft. You will need a 1/4'' drill guide to center drill the delrin, but this is very cost effective for making your own spacers.I know they make 5/16'' delrin tube with the proper i.d. for a 3mm screw.

As of last week, the oversized 1/4" delrin tubing is only available in 5' lenghts. Smaller sizes were on bo for 3-4 wks.

When you say ''oversize'' 1/4'' is that more like 5/16''? I've seen some @ the hobbyshop before that i believe they got from Mcmaster that was labled 1/4'' and had the hollow hole that a 3mm would tap into, but it was actually bigger then 1/4''.

so i gave this a try using my stock AXIAL wheels and i dont think it came out to bad i still need to get ahold of some hubs then make my new face plates. i also need to buy some spacers i gave a try at making my own.

well i dont have a drill press so i tried this with the drill it went fairly well but next time i think i will use a 4"grinder with a cut off wheel insted of the dremel tool

thanks for showing me how to do this it saved a few bucks sesne i dont need to buy new ones now

The next step you'll need a 2 5/8 hole saw.

Make sure your drill is at low speed .

Then take your old rings clap it to the new ring and use a 1/8 drill ,drill them out at the same time after you drill one hole use a old 3mm to keep it lined up.

What kind of material is that your using for the face of the wheel? And how thick is it?

That would be 1\8in acrylic,so far they are holding up i hav'nt taken a big fall with them yet. Some say they might be to brittle.

Are you using spacers between the hub and the face of the wheel?

As you see in the pics there are no spacers just VP hubs.

Very cool mod. I have a set of proline beadlock slash wheels with shredded hex's I think I will see if this will work on them. Thanks for the great write up.

I am on this also with some old axials that worked well last night. I am debating what to use as spacers to make sure they are exact, yet not insanely expensive. I have a pretty good small project chop saw and will probably get some aluminum tube and just be really careful to make sure my cuts are precise.
