Default Axial wheel replacement hardware kits

Found some button head hardware that works with the 1.9 and 2.2(not XR10) axial wheels. They use cap head hardware that catches on rocks. These button head screws fit a bit tighter, and slide better on the rocks. Below is a link to where you can buy em. They are 2-56 x 3/8"

You can get the same screw from Mcmaster for under $6.50 per 100. Problem with the button head screws is the small hex (.050" on these) with very little "meat" to it so they strip easy. Soft stainless screws just make it worse.

McMaster sells a lower quality stainless. There are many people selling stainless out there. The place I order from has a much higher quality stainless. I was able to tighten these down pretty hard with my .050 Hudy driver, and they were solid.

I do recommend someone invest in a decent .050 driver, and not try to use a little allen key for stuff like this. It will make your life so much easier.

Please enlighten us as to what this "higher quality" stainless is. As you can get both 18-8 and 316 stainless from them.

There is just different quality's from what I understand. The stuff I am getting from my current supplier seems harder than the stuff from my previous supplier. Much like a battery, just because it is labeled as something, doesn't necessarily mean it's true.

I'm not saying McMaster's is bad, but have heard they strip easily. These button heads I got seem to be pretty nice, and I can tighten them pretty hard with my hudy driver, and they dont strip

sorry, but i still have to call bs on the mcmaster thing, i use my mini impact to tighten things down all the time doing jig work and on my truck, and not a single stainless screw head has stripped. this is just with dynamite power tool tips, hell they ate an apex tip in a second the first time i tried that. using 3mm and 4-40. i don't know where you heard that they were strip happy, but from where i'm sitting, its pretty smelly.

3mm and 4-40 have a much larger hex pocket for the tip. The 2-56's he's talking about are much different. Mcmaster sells good quaility stuff for sure, but I have had this problem with their 2-56 screws as well.

if i can tighten a 4-40 button head with an impact wrench then what is there to give me one shred of evidence that i'll strip out the same grade of screw with a hand driver.
