| recommendations for stiff foams
I'm needing some guidance for some super stiff foams, I know that this is the opposite of what most folks want! My 1/6th scale Willys has no problem completely crushing the stock black foams that came with the RC4WD RokLox. From everything that I could find in here, it seems like are the stiffest stock foams known to mankind, but I need more! Thanks for any ideas. |

Have you thought about possibly doing a cut and shut to some 1/5 scale foams?

Idk what those come with but ive seen ppl stuff multiple foams in a tire to make them stiff. Also f400s are usually a pretty stiff foam.

Crawler Innovations closed cell inners with firm outers? I'd ask Eddie what he thinks, but I'd say some 5.5" or 6" inners would be the deal.

Very interested in this as well, I'm running r35 ripsaws with standard foams on axial 2.2s on my 1/6 willy's weighing 12 pounds and they need help, mainly on turns.

It will hold any 2.2 tre as far as I know, but seriously, have you thought of doing a cut and shut to a 1/5 scale foam?

The crawler InNovations new closed cell are awesome. I have had several different set made up recently for all my scalers. If you give him a weight and he can set you up. I just had a set of the above mentioned with outer firms for a heavy weight scaler I'm planning. For a rig that heavy you may end up just running a single stage large closed cell foam. He runs a single stage closed cell in his 6x6 that is very heavy. All in all the new foams are a must for the scale crowd of all tire sizes. Gives a soft enough outer for the tire to do work, but has a nice firm sidewall for support and side hilling. I have converted all my tires to the new system. Thanks Clay Carter Fab & Machine |

Carpet pad is about 8lb/ft3 iirc some closed cell gym foam stuff are about 3-4lb/ft3. If you're into experimenting that is. Eddie at CI will set you up as others have recommended with a for sure setup.
