I can't decide what ones to get. I know out of the box the LST is probably better but how do they stack up against a modified kong. Is it worth all that time modifying a kong or am I better of using LST's? I live in Hawaii so most of the rocks we crawl on is lava. Will the soft compound of the LST's benefit or hurt performance on these sharp rocks? Any help is appreciated.

Dude you should use the LST's. They are a much better compound than the kongs. Less parts breakage also. But the best part of it it's round!

I would use jumbo kongs because if you narrow them they will work great

I would think that any tire would work well on the lava rock there. Traction won't be your problem! You really need to consider size. The Kong is just plain HUGE. Even though the size difference is about 1 or 1.5 inches, it is a major difference in vehicle performance. One thing I am thinking is this: You probably need a lot of clearance. I would imagine that the under belly of the truck gets stuck on the sharp lava rock alot and you can't slide over much of your terrain! The Kongs may be the best choice due to that reason.

I was laughing at that one too Badger! Maybe the rocks have scissors on them?!?! I could see puncturing a hole in a tires sidewall in the lava rock.

Thanks guys but I decided to get the LST's. I scored a set off of e-bay for $47 compared to $85 for kongs and the shipping is outragous to hawaii. Anyways the lava here is mostly A'A which is jagged and sharp. My one worry with the kongs was with a side wall that tall they would get stuck in cracks a lot. Don't know if that would of been the case but oh well. Also are the beadlock rings from Losi functional? Thanks
