New 2.2 Pitbull Rock Beast II review So I got these mounted up today and spent one hour running them on rock and dirt. http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...644CF333AD.jpg http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...6452838A30.jpg First of all I'd like to say how easy they were to mount up. The bead seems to hold real nice too. I mounted them up on my BAM 1" wide 6 spoke beadlocks. I used a pair of Crawler Innovations closed cell 5.5" inners with medium outers in front. The rear used 6.0" inners with firm outers. They fit perfectly and filled the tire like they were made for them. These tires seem to have a bit thicker sidewall than the 1.9's and with these foams the carcass flexes just the right amount, they let the tire compound do all the work. I noticed that the tread really bites into the rock and you can hear the lugs working. http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...s/IMG_4017.jpg I tried my usual spots at Rivervilla that I have crawled for the last 6 years. The tires performed the same or better as all the other tires I've tested down there. I drove all the spots from my tire test that I did earlier this summer and couldn't really tell the difference until I tried two lines that I haven't ever been able drive. http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...s/IMG_4016.jpg http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...s/IMG_4020.jpg http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...s/IMG_4038.jpg http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...s/IMG_4030.jpg http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...s/IMG_4022.jpg The first one is a rough steep climb that has ledges that aren't friendly to a 13" wheelbase rig. After one attempt where I started in the wrong spot I lined up in a different spot and with a bit of rear steer, proceeded to drive right up it! I got really excited. http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...s/IMG_4046.jpg This got me to thinking about a couple other lines that I've had trouble with and decided to work my way north through the park. http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...s/IMG_4048.jpg http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...s/IMG_4043.jpg http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...s/IMG_4060.jpg So the start of this climb is an off camber where you really need to get lined up for a ledge. http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...s/IMG_4066.jpg The you need to steer full lock to the left and hook a tire to pull your self up. http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...s/IMG_4067.jpg Then you have to get all the way to the right and bump it perfectly to keep from flipping back and off the ledge. I did it twice! http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...s/IMG_4068.jpg Played around a bit more until my battery dumped...... http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...s/IMG_4052.jpg http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...s/IMG_4054.jpg http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...s/IMG_4061.jpg As you can see, they sidehill like a mother! http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...s/IMG_4063.jpg http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...s/IMG_4044.jpg |
