Has anyone tried these? I thought of this a while ago and I saw them on mud cows video.

Yeah I have won about 3 comps on them now. What do you want to know about them? They have earned the nickname "Velcro Tyres" down here. |

I was just wondering if they were better than all the other tires.

I'm yet to find a tyre with better traction. The proline Giant Traks are the closest but they don't have as good lateral traction. Only drawback with the maxx pins is that they are a slightly smaller diameter so the under diff clearance suffers a little, but if you aren't crawling on terrain where this is critical, they are very very hard to beat and this has been proven quite convincingly in our crawling comps here. I still use the cut Juggys for the diff-catching courses, but for the Juggys to hook up it needs to be bone dry. The step pins hook up well whether it's wet / dry / hard pack / soft / dusty / sandy / you name it! If they came in a 7" dia they would be the perfect crawling tyre traction + clearance wise, just that they don't have the looks of a normal tyre. |

Sorry to keep dragging this on, but do you think the new Imex tire will be better?

You mean the one that looks like a BFG Krawler? In my opinion, no. |

I will be interested in your comments when you try them. I am surprised that more guys aren't running them. They may not look scale crawler like but performance-wise they are the bee's knees.

But seriously, if they were that big, you would need a seriously beefy driveline. Maybe hybrid axles using 1:8 buggy diffs + CVD shafts and a TC or similar centre tranny. With all that traction they would seriously stress everything. They do turn better than the wider (4" or so) tyres as the pins deflect a little and let the tyres turn. | |

Have only tried the Proline (Med Compound) and IMEX (Soft Compound). Both work really well. I probably prefer the Proline ones over the IMEX. The softer compound pins tend to squirm more which can reduce traction a little in difficult off-camber situations, but having said that, they are still MILES ahead of anything else! Softer compound tyres seem to wear a little better as well. |

How come you have never tried these Dirk? You seem to have tried allmost every tire that might have crawling worth.

Man dirk, you must run on some diff scraping courses. I think I may just buy a set of these babys once I get my truck running.
