Default Official Review - Pit Bull Growler - 1.55

As Usual Im Very Fortunate To Have Received Pit Bulls New Prototypes,,This Go Around Is The Pit Bull Growler.. Measuring in @ 4.19 x 1.2 x 1.55 Mounted .. We Will Be Offereing These With a Dual Stage Foam that Have a Firm Inner and a Medium Outer.. The Growlers Have a Newly Designed Bead To Work With RC4WD Steelies and Other Leading Beadlock and Non-Beadlock Wheels, You Will All Be Happy To Know They Have Reinforced Sidewalls To Prevent any Pre-mature Sidewall Cuts or Tears.

This Tire is Being Offered In The Komp Kompound Only, that ALL of Our Other Award Winning Tires Are Offered in, So Traction and Performance Will Not Be Lacking. I Just Recently Received a Set of The Growlers in 1.1 Fashion So I Know The Scale Appearance 1st Hand,,and The Nail Was Hit On The Head Again,,This Tire Just Screams all Kind of Awesome......

During Mounting I had Absolutely No issues Getting Them to Pair Up on a Set of RC4WD Steelies With The Prototype Dual Stage Foams, and The Combo Is Very Classy..As of Now Im Testing with No added Weight,My Clone Rig is On The Heavier Side So Im Not In a Rush To Fatten it Up Any.. Once on The Rig I was Very Pleased with The Tire/Foams Ability To Hold My Clone Rig Up With Out Having To Much Lower Sidewall Bulge,,Not to Sure How There Gonna Hold Up Once Everything is Broken in and settled,,But For Now and Innitial Testing They are Great, and Its Nice To Know the Foams are Good for 8+ lbs...

Testing Conditions,,Here in Jersey We Just had a Little Snow and its about 38 degrees...My Home Course has a Mix of Slate, River Bed Slick Rock, Granite, Feather Stone and Concrete,,So I Have a Ton of Different Terrain and Water/Slush Filled Obstacles,,

On The Rocks, These Tires Did Not Disappoint,,Forward Bite Just Like all The Growlers Big Brothers,,and In The Wet they Stick To Everything Just Like Expected, ,,I Was able To Slow Crawl Pretty Much Every Line I Picked,Only Falling Pray To Overall Belly Clearance or Axle Clearance,,If They Were Touching The Rocks They Were Moving,,A Few Verts On Course Were Still Snow Covered and I Was Able To Get a Few Of Them With Lil to No wheel Speed,Others Just Werent Do-able With My Rigs Capabilities,..

So Far after a Day of Testing Im In Love With Them ,There Looks,Performance and Drivability are 2nd To None,, Class 1 Just Got a Swift Kick in Its Comp Arse..

PICS......

I'm glad they work man. We are going to tweak the lettering on the sidewall so it' s not so faint...and then we will order a production run.

If these work then the 1.9s will work just as well or better.

We've already given the dealer pricing to dealers...so they should have them listed for pre-order. Just saying...

I bet those 1.55s stretched on some 1.9s would look good.

Trying to stay ahead of the pack isnt easy, need all the help I can get

I have Pit bulls on my C2 and C3 rigs and there is nothing better than the rockbeast in 1.9 and 2.2 for me. I am just really excited to try the new growlers in C1

If you saw my tire area,I would say I probally needed everyone of those also....

I was lucky enough to get the other set of these tires. I received them today and mounted them up on my Gearhead UTE 1.55" beadlocks. I modded some 1.9 Pitbull foams and they should work well for now. It's 10:45 PM so no testing tonight, but I have some batteries charged up and ready to go for tomorrow. I ran this rig with a set of 1.9 Rock Beasts on my rock pile yesterday so I have a baseline to compare the 1.55 Growlers to. More to come tomorrow.....

PS: I think these tires look AWESOME on this rig, they are the perfect size!

Seems like a biased review. You know you could send them my way and I'll review them!

Sounds like a good tire. Would like to use these on a Dinky Woodsman Trailer to pull behind the Wraith with 2.2's.

Well, after about 45 minutes of testing on my favorite lines I have come to several conclusions.

1. These aren't 1.9 Rock Beasts and you shouldn't expect them to perform as well.

2. They are REALLY good Class 1 tires.

3. They look awesome.

I had a chance to drive all my favorite lines and the tires struggled only on the most difficult ones. These tires do really well on just about everrything but unfortunately I drove them right after I drove my 1.9 Rock Beasts. They aren't quite as soft and flexible as the 1.9 Rock Beasts and they hopped and spun a bit more, but they always ended up pulling the line. The tread is more of an all terrain tread and they don't hold a line as well as more aggressive treads, but after a while you get a feel for what they can and can't do. They tend to pack up with dirt too and are difficult to clean out, bit with a little wheel speed they clean out just fine. That being said, they still perform really well and don't seem to lose a step when the rocks get wet. Bottom line.....these are a perfect all around truly scale looking tire. They should put the smack down on any other 1.55 tire on the market. I'm going to try and get down to a couple of my favorite spots and test these some more in the next week or so, until then here are a bunch of pics.....

All of these pictures were driven to.......no poser shots here.
