i am trying to get anodizing off of my aluminum wheels. but i cant seem to get it off. does anybody know the best way to do it? i would like to strip it off if possible, not sand it. this stuff is pretty durable when you try to strip it. i have so far used, oven cleaner, gasoline, laquer thinner, battery acid, starting fluid, and brake cleaner. i am stumped as to what else to use.

You could possibly bead blast them, and I don't think it would hurt the wheels or etch the aluminum.

LMAO thats funny as hell Ok ok if I were you I would go to an anodizing shop and have them de-anodized your parts. de-anodizeing - is a process were they take your alloy parts and stick them in a bin with some kind of chemical solution and they put a electric charge to the bin thus making the poors in the alloy open up and thus removing the coloring from your parts with out ruining the the finish on your parts.. im not 100% sure if that's right but I know im very damn close ![]() Parts after De-Anodizing ![]() parts after polishing them ![]() test color for anodizing

looks awesome! I've been thinking of sending my stuff out for hard anodizing. My work has a lot of their stuff sent out, so I might send it with theirs. Any idea how "hard" hard anodized finishes are? Think it would be too easy to scratch off? (They won't let me grind one their new pulleys with a rock... :? ).

i found something today that works! proffesional grade draino. like the stuff to unclog pipes with. it is basically sulferic acid. it eat right through the anodizing and left the aluminum nice and smooth. i let them soak for about 5 minutes then washed them off. hit them with some polish and they look great. thanks for all your help
