Default Black Ice in July?

That's right people. Black Ice in July! I want to first and foremost give a huge thanks to Matt at Team Ottsix for going above and beyond when he didn't have to. Thanks again for hooking me up with the new Team Ottsix Black Ice beadlock rings.

JSlick did an excellent review on them including the weight of the rings compared to the stock VP rings, so I am not going to get into all that detail. You can find his review here.

OTTSIX Black Ice Beadlock System

I am simply going to let people know my initial thoughts on the rings as well as thoughts on them after I get a chance to put them on the rocks.

My first impression after getting them out of their "super protective airtight film" (great idea by the way Matt) was nothing other than WOW! These things are just simply beautiful. I would have gotten a picture of the packaging, but as my hands and brain couldn't communicate at that moment, so it's too late.

For good reason, Black Ice is an appropiate name for the rings. I had a tough time trying to get a picture of the shine on these without getting the reflections in them of everything around them.

One of the great design ideas I noticed right away, is the fact there are only three screws in the outer ring and also that the outer ring is a touch larger than the VP ring is. This made seating the bead of the Voodoos seem effortless. At the same time, it's quite easy to check to see that the bead is seated properly before tightening down any screws.

I would think the outer ring could be used by itself, like in the pic above without issue. I really can't see a problem with a bead coming unseated with only the three screws holding in in place. Then again.........why would I want to leave it like that, when I can have it look like this?

I think the Black Ice beadlock rings speak for themselves. Great design idea, great fit and awesome looks. I will get the rest of them mounted up and get a couple more pictures of the rig with them on. Stay tuned!

Very nice pictures, I knew you would love them. Can't wait to see them on your rig at Rausch Creek on the 13th. That DD chassis is going to look sweet with the VOODOO and Black Ice combo.

Finally had a chance to get some time on the rocks. I think the Black Ice system looks killer out in the sunlight.
