There isn't much you can do to make the Krawler tires softer other than some techniques that racers use. For a simpler option, buying a new set of sticker tires will make it a night and day difference. Axial's sticky compound is their R35.

Weight to crush the foams and tire better, v channel the inside of the foam, while your working on the foams sit the tires in simple green or another tire cleaning solution and get all the mold release and manufacturing oils out of the tire. Then just start running them and get them worn in, I like my rtr Krawlers. They work great and sound awesome on the rocks.

Cheers

You can soak in WD40 as well.

Sipe the hell out of them with a high speed cut off tool...this adds a lot of flex and traction to any tire.

There are a lot of threads on how to sipe a tire. which is just cutting a tires treads to increase traction, think of a snow tire for a car, all the little grooves increase surface contact, more extreme examples are things like southern cuts, where entire lugs are removed. In your case this will do 2 things, help increase traction with the sipe but also help the tire flex because some of the support is being removed making it less rigid. A cutoff tool in a dremel works well, messy but effective.
