I have a exceed madtorque moa I've made into a 1/10 scale 2.2 rig. Dual 55t and top speed is just faster than I can walk. I crawl on mix of various rock, wood, dirt and sand with some occasional mudding. Running treps with minor trimming of the inside edge of the outer lugs and v cuts in the top of every other side lug. Tires clean out much much better and sidewalls grap like crazy. The more I work them in the softer they get.

Love that tsl's cut.
I did a very similar cut on mine on the center lugz. So far I've left the shoulder patties alone.

Was looking for a photo of the tsl's and found this of the rb2s. This photo really shows the cut
These clean very well and grip rock pretty good. I really like this cut on them

My rear gears are blown so the rear is just being drug around but even they cleaned pretty good for not having wheel speed same as the front

Rock crushers...

Had to mount the pass side with the cut to the outside! Lol the tires worked but was on the heavy side. Those pits look sick!

Also a pic of the MT claws...

The Baja claws is one of the best IMO!

I just finished cutting up my S40 compound (hard) BFG Krawlers.. I really liked the performance off road from the thread pattern on these tyres, but they get outperformed easily by the softer compound competitors, especially on rocks.

I cut more out of the rear tyres, two lugs out of every row. I cut alternating 2 lugs by 1 lug out of the fronts. Didn't want to compromise steering performance.

Front

Rear

When I was finished, I obtained a handful of rubber cuts which got me thinking.. I wonder how much that weight reduction would affect the top speed??

Before cutting, I measured a top speed of 8mph on 2S and 11mph on 3S.. (stock 20T motor on reduced gearing). Will give it a retry and see if I gain anything noticeable. Also can't wait to try them in some dirt!

Yup. A manufacture that promotes tunning to individual needs is living in real life.

A few other manufactures live in the were best kinda life and that's how it is. I say cut that stuff up and your eyes will maybe pop out of your head at the improvement.

Though some cuts could make performance drop. So take it easy when in doubt make minor cuts

Good to see this thread is still going.

they are my go to tire
I have a bunch of grooves and sipes in mine, and one night after a few too many drinks I decided to do this to the center lugs on mine. They suck now. They hop and the lateral traction is awful. I ruined my TSLs.

Don't drink and groove, kids

2.2 Flat Irons....went from OK to hoovering rocks out of the ground. Shaved the lugs off the sides, rounded over the outer edges, and did some siping on the outer lugs. Inners left alone.
