| comp tires for moss and wet/dry rock
i'm been out of the comp scene for a bit. but i'm getting back into it. when i left the rovers were the shit. Boss claws were on their way out and Sedonas had been on the scene for about 4 months with some strong support. i have the vanquish SLW .7 rims. i have no interest in spending money on new rims. i like the look of the voodoo's and i'm willing to play around with foams. i have a body right now but i'm leaning towards going bodiless. let me know. |

If you don't mind tuning, voodoos are the way to go. I loved my rovers and sedonas. However once I put 5.5 medium CI DD's in some narrowd voodoos, I've switched for good. I run them on my sporty and pro

| Re: comp tires for moss and wet/dry rock That's tuff to answer. Your conditions are sure to be different then mine. Eddie is our foam guru at CI. Against his opinion ( I run narrowed voodoos), I spent silly money on narrowed foams that were 6". I wound up putting them in my laalaa's ( you can look that term up . They were no good for my voodoo application. I've found 5.5" DD foams from CI have been perfect. So to sum up what I run: pro- narrowed silver compound with all 5.5 medium foams. Sportsman- 6" dd foams soft front and medium rear. Im 100% sold on my pro set up. I working on concluding if the 6" stuff the tire too much for me. I hope this helps bro

I'm with Crawllife on the 5.5" in the narrowed Silver Voodoos only difference in my setup is my front foams are the Soft foams. My Pro rig is also a bit lighter then his otherwise the Softs may be too soft.

I have seen some furry moss covered rock that sluffed off pretty easy and clogged up pins. Don't rule out your Rovers and Sedonas for every situation...! |

That's a good point. If you're conditions are muddy and moss covered, I think you'd be better off running some sort of lugged comp tire. I've seen our pin tires clear snow mixed with mud with great ease but we really haven't done any testing in conditions like you've stated. Really, the bottom line is that Voodoo's are expensive high end comp tires and honestly, you won't find them in too many muddy/moss covered conditions.

Well, if the terrain mentioned above is exclusively what your going to be crawling on, send me a pm. I have a number of sets of " less than one season" rovers with shaved sidewalls. I'm sure I could help you in some way. Addicted is in my club and we are blessed with some clean, high grip rock to comp on. However my closest practice spot does have moss on some of the rock due to the amount of shade the area gets. I need to practice with the tires I'll be comping on so my voodoos do meet some moss. Certainly a bit more slick than sand paper but I've still pulled some crazy lines there. I'm done now because I'm starting to sound like a voodoo salesman. I'd like to see pics of where you'd be driving the most. Sometimes a pic is better than a typed description. My idea of " a little moss" may be way different than yours.

Holy crap. That is some next level moss growth dude. I'd start looking for scale studded snow tires or something |

I am not sure if that is what Kraqa meant by moss, but that is what I was thinking of when I chimed in...! |

i'm goign to try to dig up some photos. i ran homemade pin tread crawling tires. they clogged up pretty good right away and left me for dead in the comps. |

| Re: comp tires for moss and wet/dry rock this is typical. probably more moss. under those moss chunck is dirt once you get a rig or two over it the entire line is covered in mud. |

If you can find some used gold compound tires on the cheap, I think it'd be worth giving it a try...if they don't work for you, you can re-sell them no sweat. (gold should walk that rock imo)

is gold soft or stiff? we ended up finding the firm rovers worked better than the soft ones on our rock. less grip on the smooth stuff, but WAAAAY more grip when you need one tire to grip a small ledge. |

Gold is the soft compound but the soft rovers compared to white dot is a bad comparison. The pink dot super soft rovers just arnt that good for anything. Gold voodoos would be a good choice for the pic above |
