Default 1.9 tire test

Okay everyone has been talking about these different 1.9 tires. So I thought I would post a review followed by a video.
Tire 1. 1.9 falken wild peak r35 compound with 4.25 lil nova foams medium front firm rear. First thoughts on this tire is the axial r35 compound and we all know. The lug design is a little more separated then the other two tires. Feel good and I believe they will do well in dirt situations and with some rock.

Tire 2. 1.9 proline tsl xl g8 compound with 4.50 lil nova foams soft front medium rear. My first impression on these tires is the g8 compound is soft but not quite as soft as the other tires. Seems to be a good all around lug design for dirt as well as rocks.
Tire 3. 1.9 pit bull growler komp compound with 4.50 lil nova foams medium front firm rear. My first impressions on the growler is the super sticky soft compound that pit bull is known for. A closer tread pattern then the other two tires. Should be a great rock tire and do okay in dirt.
I won't be testing in water or in mud for this test. I am doing this test just to shed some light on these three tall tires in the same conditions. I see a lot of questions on what tire would be the best so maybe after we do the video it would be clear.
I will be running these tires on a scx-10 chassis with 12.3 wb
It has rock jock axles with knuckle weights emaxx shafts mmp and a 3300 pro4 on 4s 1800 mih lipo. I have ran the mad beast and the r35 trepadors and they just didn't compare to these three tires in my personal opinion. All three tires have about 2 runs on the and are all still breaking in. That's about all I have for tonight. Tomorrow we will do the test and see what tire can do work. He is a few pics of the tires and the weight of my jk.

Cool. A downhill with a hard turn would be a nice test for sidewalks folding under.

Well, the good news is we got some good footage on the Growlers and Wild Peaks since they were both mounted on Vanquish wheels and the test rig had vanquish knuckle weights. Unfortunately the TSL XLs that I brought for the test were mounted on RC4WD Dick Cepek wheels which would not fit over the Vanquish weights...

So this is really going to just focus on a comparison between the Growlers and Wild Peaks, two great tires.

I will work towards getting the video edited soon!

Any way to test the same lines with wheel speed and slow crawling?

Reason being is I've noticed my growlers like wheel speed and are more predictable than my r35 Treps but slow crawling its the opposite.

That was our goal to try and use same lines, same speed and slow crawling. Also using the exact same rig. I think we got pretty close. I will add the link to this thread as the video is up now. I will also ask Crawlininga to add the video link to the initial post as well for easy reference.

http://youtu.be/n5InvcroS4o here is the video we got yesterday. Let us know if you would like to see anything different as far as the test. Just to mention these lines we used in this video the mad beast wouldn't do no matter how I hit them.

Nice vids!! My preference would be to have the camera on a tripod in a fixed position...just pan and tilt to follow the rig. Having a marked course would be good too, so the rig is following the same lines for each test. You didn't mention where the weight bias is set...where is yours set? The other thing I wanted to mention is a 3300Kv motor on 4s? Damn man, that would be a grenade in a boat lol.

Thanks for the camera feedback, I will keep that in mind for future comparison shoots.

As for the weight bias I think he has his about 60/40 but I will defer to him for the confirmation on that.

As far as the lines were I have been there several times and the tires were in the same exact spots. As far as the weight bias is. I would say 60/40 all the links are in the stock locations and I do have knuckle weights. No weights in my tires nor added to the chassis. I was very please with the results and I am very happy with both tires. They will stay on the wheels and we will do another test once they both get broke in more

Cool! I had mine at 55/45 and now did some rearranging to get it to 60/40. It needed that little bit more up front, balance feels spot on now.

I agree, although my rig was not in the video, I currently run 60/40 and it seems to be just right for the ~8lb scx10 I run. Good sweet spot for overall balance.

Not sure if you have heard of this, but if you soak the tires in simple green and water it will soften them up a ton. But good comparisons!

I have become a huge fan of simple green, not only for my tires but for cleaning my rigs after nasty muddy runs. It really does eat the dirt. Really makes them tires sticky too!!
