| Narrowing problems (w/ glue?)
just narrowed my first set of tires and am having problems with the glue. I washed my tires inside and out with a scrub brush and hot soapy water followed by a good rinse. I am using IC-2000 Tire Glue Rubber Toughened (the black stuff). Glue is taking upwards of 3 minutes to set enough for me to release the pressure. Even after this long it easily separates. After doing the whole tire, I had to do both a bead of glue all the way around the cut on the inside and the outside to get it to be strong enough to not easily separate. Now the glue is making my tire turn white and hard anywhere near the glue. Am I just using the wrong glue? Stuff said that "this is the best glue for tires and cut and shut". looks like **** and isnt holding up, plus changing the softness of the tire. What gives. |

There should be an immediate bond. If too much is applied it takes much longer. A little dab'll do ya.

ie: https://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/...Glue_1_oz.html I know standard CA glue works fine for adhering the tire's bead to the wheel if bead locks are not utilized. But wheel flex is minimal when compared to the tire's necessary surface conformity (flex). but then I don't really know much as I've never cut/resized my tires. All you have to do is use some CA quick setup glue first to get the tire together, then turn the tire inside out and run a bead of your ic2000. I've done dozens of sets of tires this way, it works great! |
