NEW SSD-RC Beadlock Rims

Thought I'd share these Sexy Beadlock wheels I've just discovered.

www.ssd-rc.com

www.rcbitz.com

Improvements over existing "steel" wheels are, front ring, zinc yellow scale hardware, shallow hex hub, and they will fit all brands of tyre including pro-line (which you will see below).

http://i1217.photobucket.com/albums/...psb8a0f083.jpg

You'll see here the front ring bolting through the steel rim to a second ring forming the deep over-all ring for the bead to grip onto.
You only need to work with the central 6 bolts to build these, the outer ring ones can be left in place....bonus!

http://i1217.photobucket.com/albums/...psc905e2cd.jpg

Might as well pop these in here too as they hold said wheels on, also made by SSD-RC

These are Spicer style with an internal M4 locknut embedded into them so they won't spin loose. The central part of the Spicer (yellow in my case) is made from plastic so has way more detail than other metal ones.
They come supplied with the locking tool required to fit them too.

On my Deadbolt (tyre too small but you get the idea

Then on my TF2, where the tyre look spot on......now I'm torn between which rig gets the rims.

The black steel wheels look nice. Any word on how the hold the bead on pitbulls? Just the fact that they're holding proline's bead is promising...

A friend of mine has just got a set of these too and has pit bulls coming so will let you know in more detail as soon as I can.

Does vp hubs or rc4wd work by any chance to achieve desired offset???

saw these on FB. they look awesome. the black ones too.
only down side the offset is a little wider track than I like to run. but the looks are killer.

Does this count as vendor pimping?

It doesn't just seem like a satisfied customer posting up pics of their product. Especially since you "conveniently" have the SSD website pulled up on the screen in the pics...

It does have a tiny bit of helpful info, but leads me to believe he has something to do with SSD more than just being a paying customer...

Also, the way you mention them in your build thread here
http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/1-9-s...olt-build.html
is a little suspect as well. How can it be your favorite RC store when they just opened, and you are the first one to post up ANY info on their products?

Just seems a little grey area to me...

Monkeyracer

My favorite RC store is RCBitz which is the link"thumbsup" look again you'll see!

That alone should clear up two of your points:roll:

I can tell you I am a very happy customer......which is why I've done this thread.

sic1two

I've just offered some 1.55 RC4WD hex hubs and they fit, sorry they're all I have to compare.

Cool that answers my question because rc4wd & vp does not interchange! Ty

Since they're a six lug, I say run them on the yota.

SSD has a Blue vendor star on here anyway.

Our wheels are compatible with VP hubs, not RC4WD hubs.

As you say RC4WD & VP hubs do not interchange as there is approximately 0.25mm difference in the bolt pattern radius and the OD of step at the front of the hub is also different.

SSD wheels use M2.5 x 8mm screws in the hub (Not the same as VP hubs).

So they do work with vp hubs? First you say they do then you say they don't use the same hardware. I'm confused.

The wheels work with VP hubs. The wheels have M2.5 screws in the SSD hex hub. VP hubs use different hardware.

So if you want to use VP hubs you also need to get the hardware that a VP hub requires.

Oh okay makes sense. Makes these wheels even more appealing.

It's lookin like the bolt patterns are the same. Ssd-rc uses metric threads on their hubs while vp uses 4-40. So, the holes on the wheels may not be big enough to have the vp hardware fit. Drilling the holes out may be required to fit the 4-40 bolts.

Re: NEW SSD-RC Beadlock Rims

No big deal if that is the case. Worth it imo.

Are the holes on the wheels a large enough diameter for 4-40 socket head hardware to fit? 2.5mm is a bit smaller than 4-40....

That's a good question, I will get some of the hardware to check.

But as you say I suspect the holes are too small for the larger hardware.

Let me get you a tissue! Wah!!!

These wheels look awesome! I can't wait to try a set.

Will they work with ProLine, PitBull, and RC4WD tires?
