Lightbulb Jconcepts 2.2 ruptures tire tuning for pro rigs

So I just ordered a set of Ruptures and I was wondering thoughts and opinions on foams for pro and shafty rigs weighting 4lbs +/- 2oz.

In my searching on these tires and talking to those that run them I found that everyone recommends siping the large lugs into a few pieces and using CI 6" dual stage soft/medium. A lot of people narrow them too and sand the sidewalls smooth.

I almost ordered ruptures yesterday but went with scorpios instead since they can be trimmed into pins pretty easily. I might have to get ruptures too since they are pretty cheap tires.

I have both in the 2.2 flavor, the Scorpios have a thicker carcass than the Ruptures, especially in the shoulder area. Nothing a Dremel and a sanding drum can't fix though. They also have ribbing on the inside extending across the tire, that's gotta go too IMO. The Scorpios are definitely more at home on a heavy scaler out of the package. I personally like both.

Same here. Everyone I run with use voodoo pins. I'd never even heard of ruptures until a conversation with a fancy crawler guy out of Utah told me about them.

Rover wander .........

Break them in and use them on the beach rock, we don't crawl on anything consistently that will benefit them over real pins.

If the green compound is like their off road stuff its good ..... theres just not much of a home here locally for lug patterns unless we're on the beach rocks.

This was Eddie's response to my same question but applied to my crawling specific 5.5lb Wraith on RC4WD Rocker wheels (1" wide).

"I haven't tried those yet. I have the scorpios on a custom scale build with a trimmed pattern and like them a lot.

Since you are rock crawling, here's my recommendation.
CWR-1004 front
CWR-1005 rear
During check out, ask for the tuning rings to be included per email.

Those are 5.5, but with the tuning ring, it makes them 5.75. The 6.0 comes with the tuning ring, but the inner is bigger and 5.5 pounds is kinda light for a wraith."

This recommendation is on its way, so I can't give feedback yet and I know it's not the same rig you are asking about but figured it might help. Post some pics of yours trimmed.

EDIT 8/20/16: This recommendation didn't work. I reordered 6" 1030 & 1031's and the narrow works fine for these 1" wheel.

Yup, kind of a combo between the Rovers and Sedonas(side lugs) but taller.

I was so unimpressed with my JConcepts tires that I never used them. I threw them in a box and forgot about them. One day I found them, gave them a Mean Green bath and they felt so much better so I mounted them up. Still haven't used them though.

Thumbs up Re: Jconcepts 2.2 ruptures tire tuning for pro rigs

So I ran the tires today they felt like a mix of rovers Sedona and voodoo

I mount the rears with the stock foam in the back and un manipulated
I felt like the rear need to be shav d like the front, there was a little bounce in the rear and they felt very sticky almost to sticky they also sounded like Velcro on the rock I felt like the rear shaved would soften it enough and off course the foams need breaking in and tires as well.

Also shaving the front side walls left a hard sharp edge on the lugs causing to tire to grab hold but also get pinched in the rocks so it may need to be rounded a bit the corner would also grip hard when digging hard and cause the inside wheel to lift and it would hold that position

So overall I felt the tires were excellent and very grippy possibly to grippy on certain rock and need to be tamed a bit

I did take some video and will try to post soon nothing crazy just some lines

So after a comp yesterday I decided to shave the rear and go to mediums in the rear as you can the fronts look a little soft and rear could use a little more foam

However over all the tires did vey well
