Anybody using the new 1.2 inch wide Vanquish Method wheels yet? What's your opinion? What foams and tires did you use? Thanxs. |

I was curious what people thought as well. I have a set of standard Methods with Carter Fab 1.25 cans on my Yeti but I'm always looking to try something new.

I'll say this. I have 2.2 methods and needed to buy Bruce's wheel wideners to bring them to 1.2 wide so I could barely, and I mean BARELY, get a set of Wildpeaks mounted with CI foams. 2.2 Falken Wildpeaks are on the narrow side compared to most of the popular crawler tires out there. 1.2? Who's been dying for a 1.2? I just don't get it. VP wheels just went from way too narrow to narrow. 1.2 is still narrower than most of the popular 2.2 crawler wheels out there and narrower than 1.5s we've all been asking for. It's like VP went to the trouble of widening the wheel but not by any significant amount. Those .8 and .9 wide wheels need to go altogether. I see so many people avoid VP wheels because they are just too damn narrow. Who knows, with CI making narrow foams now, maybe it'll be easier to get tires mounted but they still won't perform as good as a 1.5 wide that actually puts the bead where it needs to be to properly support the sidewall. At least with Bruce's kit and some longer hardware, It's now possible to get a set of "wide" VP wheels to a reasonable width, but then again who wants to spend $160 on wheels just so you can spend another $40 for the fix. I learned my lesson the hard way once.

I would like to get some VP Method 2.2 Race Wheels for my new Wraith Spawn Kit (my first crawler - and my first rc car anyway). According to @SCREAMER I should definitely go with VPs 1.2" version, right? What foams and tires can you suggest me? For a newbie there are just too many option, I read a lot, but I am still confused. I would like to crawl (have a Holmes Puller (3300KV) with BLE combo in it) and "wood rock race" a bit. What fits without problems on the VP Methods wheels? Oh, and what SLW hups (lenght) should I get (lenght)? Thanks! Last edited by l0wrider; 08-19-2016 at 03:00 AM. |
