| Best 2.2 trail tires?
Just curious what the best all around 2.2 trail tire is? I have a set of flat iron 2.2s on my scx. And swap between r35 trepadors and 2.2 mud bashers on my wraith. Looking to get something for my wraith for the summer. Play on natural hiking trails in Michigan(normal brown dirt and mud) and a back yard course that consists mostly of a bunch of rock piles, some sand hills, and a few other obstacles. The mud bashers do pretty good in the sand and a supringly not bad on the rocks. But if there's a better option I'm willing to try it out.

I know you already have them, but I just got a set of the trepadors and really like the look and they seem to be doing pretty good on the home course.

Yeah I really like the trepadors also. They do really well. I have several other sets of 2.2s but just looking for a new set for the summer to try out. I like to have plenty of options to swap back and forth with. And to the guys above the tsl swampers were what I was looking at before I even started this thread but wanted to ask for opinions. How do they do on rocks and in sand?

They do great on just about everything. I do a lot of loose dirt and sand along with mud and water to some rocks. Good all around tire. I like the the XL version for the added height. The rocks in my area are kinda tall and jagged. Not the large smooth rock. The foams will make or break the tires though. The stock foams are terrible. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk |

I have set of crawler innovation soft front and firm rear foams. I put them in what ever tire I'm running for the most part. But good to know on the swampers. I'm just always looking to try new stuff.

The huge stock Proline pillows work great in my swampers but my vehicle weight and suspension setup are geared towards a firmer foam

Yeah I like my flat iron foams even though they look about two sizes too big. But for the tsl swamper for my wraith should I go xl or normal. Also ordered a set of te geolanders in d compound this morning and am think g of running those on my scx maybe. I think I'm a tire collector to a degree. Have about 13 sets for my slash and this will be set number 7 for my 2.2s and have a some 1.9s also. I just like to be able to throw anything on depending where we go for the day.

Mine mounted very easily, but I'm using proline bead locks. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk |

Can't personally speak for the tsl yet but any other tire I've never had a issue with my method 2.2 beadlocks. Every tire I've had for almost 6" 2.2 mud bashers to smaller 2.2s like my flat irons or axial rock lizards have mounted up nicely and not caused any problems. But they are the cheaper option for a beadlock and not nice aluminum ones.

I have the 2.2 RC4WD Mickey Thompson MTZ's on my SCX10 JEEP. They are as tall as the Vaterra TSL's I use, but are a bit wider which work quite well in the snow and loose trail soil. I use the TSL's when I'm going to be encountering a lot of mud, the MTZ's on everything else. The MTZ's do well in the mud also, the TSL's are just a bit better. Hope this helps. Wayne |

I recently "clay cut" my 2.2 kr2's from axial. stock off of a bomber. the lugs that have three one way including the outer ones were cut except the middle lug. there is some clay/mud pit on my trails at rotary park on 6 mile. pretty thick and goopy stuff. did awesome with a 3000kv on only 2s. I tend to make the tires I already have work better than trying to go out and buy new tires. check out the cut tires only thread. the treps have some pretty good ability when cut. |
