Axial BFG KO2 Tires + 2.2 Gearhead Wheels...Pics Inside!
 

I received a full set of new take off Axial BFGoodrich KO2 1.9 R35 tires. I was going to head down to the LHS to get some 1.9 wheels and then I remembered watching Harley live on his FB feed when he was building his SCX10 II and he mounted the KO2 tires on 2.2 Vanquish wheels and they looked awesome. It just so happens I had a set of Gear Head RC 2.2 Five Star EZ-Loc beadlock wheels in the parts drawer; so I tried them out and it's like these tires where made for these rims. The 1.5" wide wheels give just a perfect amount of sidewall tire bulge and the contact surface remained nice and flat. I used the new version of Axial foams that come with these tires; although at first, I tried CI 4.5" "Lil Nova w/ soft outers and the tires were just too firm for my liking.

I gave the tires a bath in Castrol Super Clean and they are super sticky now. Fingers are crossed that their performance is just as good as they look.

Nice Bil, I did the exact same thing with my kit tires on widened VP Method 2.2s. Fit great and work awesome in everything as long as it's dry.

I took the Ascender G6 Jeep out for a test session last night with this tire/wheel combination. I was fairly impressed, but compared to the KLR tires, there simply isn't any comparison!

There's too much sidewall folder-over using the Axial foams so I think I will order up some 4.25 CI 'Lil Nova foams which should fix that issue. I really want to make this combo work because I love the look.

To be fair, the KLR tires are broken in and obviously, the KO2's are brand spanking new!

The KO2s look great and the Gearhead wheel width is great for them, but prefer 1.9s on 1.9 wheels. With proper CI foams I'm sure they will sidehill very well. :)
