U4RC Tires | VOODOO vs GROWLER

Hi guys,

Wanted to go for U4 tires on my YETI and can't decided between

OTTSIX U4 VOODOO's
https://images.amain.com/images/larg....jpg?width=475

or

PITBULL GROWLERS
https://images.amain.com/images/larg....jpg?width=475

Can anyone give me feedback on theses, lifespan, grip side walls, etc.

If your choice goes or the Voodoo's : what compound do you recommend ?

thanks
LV

I've seen so many guys modify Voodoos by cutting off more than half the lugs in search of traction and then just end up selling them off for cheap or giving them away. Most guys that run Growlers seem to like them well enough without needing drastic modification. For this reason I voted Growlers but I think you owe it to yourself to add ProLine Flat Iron XLs to your short list. I love my Flat Irons for U4 and KOH style driving and they are awesome on every surface. They also wear very slowly.

I've been considering the flat irons 2.2 xl's myself

Screamer, what foams do you run in your flat irons?

I vote growlers out of those 2 but my favorite for u4 has been the proline kr2. They hold lines well while on the gas and also have good side bite without catching to much of an edge in corner. I ran the growlers on my yeti with ci duces wild foam and loved them and kr2 on my bomber. I had u4s on my bomber but seemed like to much traction for my driving style

The proline KR2 are very similar to the axial version in R35 compound, if I'm right [emoji2]

Yes, CI Deuces Wild Talls are perfect for Flat Iron XLs. I did trim the outer ribs off with a pair of scissors because I found that without those ribs trimmed, the foams pushed a bit too much on the side tread and caused some cupping in the middle of the tread area. With the ribs on the outer edges of the foam trimmed, they fit like a glove.

Re: U4RC Tires | VOODOO vs GROWLER

I have experience with both.. They both have their place in U4RC. If you're an enthusiast who doesn't compete much but enjoys bashing around and just having fun, the Growler is a safe choice. However, if you want the competitive edge and want to bring home a trophy, the Voodoo U4s are the "go to" tire for most competitive drivers. Its a go fast tire that's designed to open up for increased traction as wheel speed increases. If you squeeze the tire, you can see the center lugs expand. The double dead band (two rings around the sidewall) and internal ribbing keep the sidewall standing up and keep the tire from folding under. The deadband collapses as you corner while the sidewall stays standing. A lot of engineering, modeling and testing went into the U4. It's not just replica of a 1:1 tire. The U4 takes you right to the edge of "loss of control", confidently. If that's you're driving style, the U4 is your tire. I describe it as Violent, yet refined control...

Hi all,
thanks for your feedbacks, since I found a bargain on axial KR2 2.2" R35 compound and incision wheels, here they are :

https://c2.staticflickr.com/9/8544/3...2880cd1f_c.jpg

that R35 compound is really super sticky but hte stock foams are crap, waiting for CI DD 5.5".

The wheels are on my wraith for the moment waiting for larger hubs ! "thumbsup"
