| Torn tire bead
Anyone have issues with rc4wd tire beads tearing when using rc4wd internal bead lock rims? I put a set of rc4wd 2.2 super swampers on rc4wd Dick Cepek torque rims and tore the bead on one after 2 runs. I did tighten the screws down all the way. Looks like the internal ring and the outer ring pinched it in two about 1/3 of the way around. When I put the wheel together without a tire the inner ring is loose so it shouldn't have pinched it. Is it just a bad tire or did my bashing cause the tire to tear?

If you got 'em from RPP, see if they'll do a return. As far as direct support from RC4WD, you could bring up their quote: "Due to many different methods to design Tires and Wheels, we have no control over other manufacturers products. So we can only tell you that RC4WD Tires and Wheels work together. In some cases our Wheels and Tires will work with other brand Wheels and Tires, but we can not guarantee the outcome." ... and see if they will assist. Haven't heard great things about that route, though. |

This is a very common issue and has been brought up often. It seems that RC4WD could care less about fixing the inherent issue but are at least willing to make it right with those that aren't too frustrated to go after them for the correct parts. Rc4wd wheels cut beads! Last edited by SCREAMER; 09-26-2016 at 08:12 PM. Reason: Added link |

2.2 RC4WD beadlocks are strong enough to cut R40 compound tires...took almost a full year of hard running with my Yeti to do so but yea. So dumb...those beadlocks havent left the parts drawer. My 1.9 RC4WD Racelines on the other hand, never had such issue. |

will just rework the inner ring to give a little more space and make sure its blunt no biggie. Easy to do just wanted to make sure it wasn't something I did that caused it. I have rarely found that parts for RC cars fit perfect, they almost always need a little tweaking.

Mine required an hour of "tweaking" to be usable, after slicing the beads off of $60 worth of RC4WD tires. I reached out for support and didn't hear a peep in response. Latest in a long string of failures.... I no longer support this company.
