Default The rookies hyrax review

This will be my review on these tires. As some of you have seen my pitbull tire review wich there still on my rig performing flawlessly. My favorite tire to date. Wont buy or support the other top tier tire brands.First I will run them right out of the box with new vanquish wheels and foams. I will run 5 packs through them then I will shave the sidewalls down and run again same 50 gate course, then I will peel them out about 20 % and run again then I will shave the sidewalls suuuuuper thin and run same 50 gate course. Will post up pics and videos as I complete. Enjoy

So you don't consider ProLine to be a top tier brand?

I read it as he considers pitbull and pro-line top tier brands and wont buy or support any other top tier brand...but I could be wrong

You made the right choice going with PL's new foams in those Hyraxes. That's the combo I'm running and I'm really liking PL's inner and outer foam compound.

Great to hear since I have the 1.9 Hyrax and ProLine foams sitting at home waiting for wheels. I also have the 2.2 foams at home and 2.2 Incision wheels on the way for my preordered Hyrax tires.

Imex?

Not sure who you had an issue with but I'm absolutely loving me some jconcepts.

Love to hear how much better these tires get as you work on them. Scale guys don't really seem to understand performance over looks. A beat up and shave tire will destroy on a course.

Hey now!

Some of us get it! I won't post pics as I don't want to hijack his thread with a different brand tire.

I'm curious to hear your thoughts on these Rookie after you do your full work to them! (feels weird calling you Rookie when you are anything but one)

Love the concepts as well you can check my build threads for the past 10 years made several custom comp tires with j concepts buggy tires. Also if you check here i was the first one to run the scorpios narrowed and the ruptures narrowed on a pro car a few years ago. I love them if you sand and buff the sidewalls they really wake them up.

Lol on the rookie. Hahaha. Yea i have been doing since day one me parker ,Jake (o.g ckrc) and a couple others crawled before the ax10 then we had them before anyone then they released them to the public. Just a name they came up with as there was a very big pro comp back in the days at donner summit in california ,I never went to comps and showed up and cleaned up everyone so they started calling me the rookie.

Wow, those stick like gecko sucker pads, even work upside down!

(sorry, couldn't resist....)

Seriously, though - might have to try 'em when the 2.2" version comes out - and after I've put some serious wear on the kit Bomber tires.

The hyrax out of the box work amazing. Really excell in the rocks. Forward bite is second to none. In the video that climb has only been done by 2 other tires out of the box. Jconcept scorpios and the ruptures. Normally i would sand and buff sidewalls immediately but im a little hesitant to do it as they are flet working. Really liking the foams also was a little sceptical of the width of the inner foam but the are a great combo for this tire. Also what really makes me scratch my head is that yhese tires are unvented wich is really impressive as i did not think they would work at all unvented. Most if not all dont work really well until you vent. Im sure someone will post that theres work so good unvented ect. But i have been doing this long enough to know that a tire will not have max performance until vented. Anyway some more packs today then i will vent sand and buff sidewalls and redo that same climb. Thanks for following.

These tires do not work on tapered pinch bead locks.
Straight groove likely fine, you've been warned.

Hmm they work fine on my wheels . Dont plan on removing them. Every tire i have has its own wheel. You have been warned.

This is no secret. ProLine beads have always been different. But they will work on most wheels with patience.
