| TSS Hutchinson beadlocks on my Axial Bomber
Just wanted to show off my new set of TSS 2.2 Hutchinson beadlocks and share a few things I learned while mounting them up. The fit and finish for the wheels are fantastic and I'm very happy with the way they turned out. They hold a bead extremely well and passed a deliberately "hard" pull test. They're easy to assemble due to excellent tolerances between the front and back halves of the wheel; no concerns about cross-threading fasteners or not getting them started. The "Lockerz" hubs are well made and have an impressive level of scale detail. They're also solid metal and include an o-ring at the base. I'd happily recommend these wheels and hubs to anyone. The wheels and "Lockerz" hubs are here: http://thescaleshop.webs.com/beadlockwheels.htm http://thescaleshop.webs.com/wheelaccessories.htm I used scale hardware from Gear Head and LockedUp: https://www.rpphobby.com/ProductDeta...ctCode=GEA1117 Locked Up RC 4-40 x .25" (1/4) Acorn Wheel Studs (2 And VP 0.475 SLW wheel hubs. The offset could be smaller, but I had these on hand already: https://www.rpphobby.com/ProductDeta...tCode=VPS07113 Tires are stock from the kit, with 5.5" CI Double Deuce foams (soft outer in the front, medium in the back). I vented the tires. https://www.rpphobby.com/ProductDeta...tCode=CWR-1004 https://www.rpphobby.com/ProductDeta...tCode=CWR-1005 The VP hubs fit perfectly with the wheels, as do the LockedUp acorn wheel studs. I'd recommend using 2 mm and 3 mm drivers for the hex bolts and acorn nuts; makes installing the hardware straightforward. SSD hubs also fit well with the wheels; in this case, you'll need 2.5 mm set screws + LockedUp 2.5 mm acorn nuts + small washers to bolt the hubs to the wheels. Quick update about my TSS 2.2" beadlocks. After using them for a while, I'm happy to say that I'd still recommend them to anyone! The wheels are bad ass, beautifully made, hold a bead extremely well, & I'm very excited to have them! The "lockerz" hubs have also held the wheels (so far) without locktight under a 3500 kV motor on 3s. They look awesome and are a great deal. Mounted up some Pit Bull 2.2 Rock Beast II tires. The end result is sweet. Here's a Rock Beast mounted to one of the TSS Hutchinson beadlocks. Versus the stock tires: RB on the back, stock on the front Finished product. Where have you been all my life? Lol! I'm new to the bomber world....just building. And looking for some alloy wheels...SSD's on the shortlist. I found these too but thought they would be too narrow, but I see these are wider than their others. Do you know if any of their other styles are this wide? They're working out well for you? They are a good looking wheel. Nice product at good prices - surely a lot less than LU's - I put a set in my cart and it was more like $150 - OUCH!! |

These are now unobtanium...The Scale Shop just replied on FB that they are not going to make any more wheels - they claim they can't compete with the chinese import crap. Dayum. |

Really painful to hear. Their wheels are definitely favorites for me. I’d rather buy their wheels over imports any day. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I ended up with a set from Locked Up RC - very nice wheels. The 8L series have integrated hex's so no additional cost for hubs, or studs to come loose. Their scale nuts and options are also really nice. I ended up with a set of their 'ultra hubs' that integrate a wheel nut with a hub-end that looks like either a lockout hub or an axle end - like a dana-60 axle end. They're all nice and everything but so far keep coming loose, so the jury is out on those. And they require a special tool. So far I like them, the fit and finish is much higher than on import wheels. Last edited by Browneye; 11-12-2018 at 11:29 AM.

The LURC widening rings finally showed up... With widener on the front, standard rear: Both mounted up. I really like them, and how they setup the locking ring and screws. I think it adds a lot to the overall look of the wheel, so it's worth doing. Man these are expensive though - about $200 as is just for wheels. |
