Properly mounting tires?
 

Ok to begin with the search is broken and I havent seen a good post about it yet. (I know I could use google.. but still).

Would love some tire mounting advice. I have a bottle of tire glue, but when I did the set that came with my bomber it was.. not fun. Those wheels and all those screws are a nightmare.. :shock:
So to start my upgrade process... I love emails from Proline.
The 2.2 Hyrax were back in stock so I just snatched up 4 of them. I was just going to get the proline beadlock wheels and some CI foams. Gotta wait for the foams and wheels till I get paid but I would like to figure out a good way to mount and glue them that isnt such a pain. Unless this is the norm?

I don't recommend gluing beadlocks!

If they are true beadlocks using screws to assemble multiple parts of the wheel together, that should be all that you need.

There's not much point in buying beadlocks if you are going to treat them like the old-fashioned single piece glue-on wheels.

Was your Bomber the kit-type or the RTR?

Kit comes with beadlocks.

RTR came with already-glued one-piece wheels.

Some people add a tiny bit of glue for peace of mind to a plastic beadlock - but if the wheels are any good, they should hold the tire without any.

Well jeez that makes sense and is what I thought too. I got the kit. But the first run ALL my beads came out. So I ended up gluing all of them. They are a little wobbly but if I can avoid glue that would be fantastic.

The ProLine wheels should do a better job than the Axial plastics, although you may have not got the bead seated right on your first try.

Okay, That makes more sense. If I have any troubles I'll post em here. But I figure it'll be a week or two by the time I order the wheels and foams and when they get here. Do I need to do anything to the foams?

You shouldn't need to modify CI foams, they are very well-designed to work as is, as long as you didn't get them in the wrong size.

You have to modify CI foams if you run weights in your wheels. I just use a grinding stone on my Dremel to quickly cut out a groove.

Oh okay that makes sense I just saw some people trim the inner and the outside edges.. Not sure what that was for. Thanks :D
