I got another run on my 4.75" MTRs today and really wasnt really impressed. Some lines my RBXLs walk right up, these just couldnt do. I'm wondering if I need to swap them around to have the big lugs on the outside.

if you still have the 4.75 foams in them, drop down a size and put in 4.50 Lil nova foams with mediums in front and firms in the rear...the 4.75 wont give enough to allow the tire to bite well...mine work better than my RB's...at least for my terrain here....

Col, any pics of the RBXL next to the MT/R? I'm trying to visualize the size difference.

I'm running comp cut 4.5 Lil Novas with soft outer up front and medium outer in the rear. I'll give them another run or two before I write them off. Side hilling is one area they really seemed to lack. They would slide much easier than RBXL and it was hard to hold the line.

I'd have to figure out a way to host them since Photobucket decided to be an ass and make people pay $300 to 3rd party host...The RBXLs are a bit wider and more squared profile.

Sorry to hear that, but like any thing in life...actual mileage may vary lol

Got confirmation that my 1.7 wheel, 4.19" diameter set is on the way. Trying stock foams initially, as the sidewalls are reinforced and the foam is a new type for RC4WD... and the sidewalls are not extremely tall in the size I ordered. I'm in dry rocky/gravelly crap almost exclusively.

The big lugs go on the outside.

I've ordered a set of 1.9/4.19's as I want to try a different tire than the stock on my Land Rover Ascender. Should be here in a couple of days. Wet, muddy, mossy woods are what I drive in mostly and these look good for that. Will use the stock foams until I find a good fitting foam.

On 1:1s I mostly see the small lugs on the outside, so that is how I mounted these.

Goodyear made an odd choice in having a directional tire but not making 2 different versions so they can can actually be mounted like a directional tire.

Remember when the 1:1 tire came out. Goodyear recommended the tight lugs outside for street use, and the open lugs outside for extreme off road...

I put a set of the 4.19's on my Ascender. They are slightly smaller than the stock Ascender tires. This give a little less ground clearance, but grip is a lot better in wet mossy rock, dirt etc. Only stuff that that couldn't deal with was wet granite rock, or bunches of tree roots on a climb and I don't know of a tire that can.

Other thing is the foams are fairly stiff, and it was cold weather (5C) o this might have an affect on their performance.

What does everyone think of the X2S3 compound?
How does it compare to the X2SS?

From what I've read, they are asymmetrical but not directional.

Ive only been able to run my 4.75 1.9s on ice and crusty snow but I'll say this, most (ok pretty much all) crawler tires are absolutely terrible this time of year, but these things have hooked up and found traction on slippery terrain you can barely walk on without ice cleats. I've never seen another tire do half as well as these. Super impressed. Can't wait till spring.

The compound combined with this tread pattern should be a beast in our damp and slippery terrain here.

I picked up a set yesterday afternoon, I really like the feel of the new compound. I will be removing the inside ribbing near the shoulder though to help them conform to the terrain a bit better.

I can confirm that they go fantastic in snow..... I had my 2 year old out yesterday tearing it up with the 1.7 MTR's with 1.5 CI foams and 1.7 steelies....

I was excited about picking up a set of these in 1.9 4.75”. I have them mounted as I type this and used 4.5” lil novas with soft foams. I’m struggling to even mount them on my rig because I do not like the skinniness of the tire...

I’m also struggling with how soft the tires are. It seems like the lugs will just fold or roll over on themselves rather than grab the terrain. The MTZ I had did that and I ditched them after a very short time.

Maybe the foams are too hard or too big?

I only have the 1.55 size but with comp cut CI foams they conform to rocks. They shoudn't be hanging only from the lugs.
