Got my 1.55 rock beasts today. They look awesome. The foams seem very hard. Wondering if I should trim or get other foams before I assemble because I am using glue on gear head rims.

I haven't seen the 2.2 XORs but these 1.9 XORs look bad ass, I'll post pics later. Hopefully it rains later so I can give these some mud testing.

So this is the RB XL vs the XOR, RB XL has a CI 4.5" dual stage inside and the XOR has the stock foam. They look great but they will be a bit of a pain to mount on any wheel narrower than 0.8", if you can at all. I need to try stretching one over a CI 1.5" wheel just to see what they'd look like. What width wheel are they mounted on in the picture sneetches?

Well, I am thoroughly impressed with the 1.55 Rock Beasts. These were outperforming a lot of 1.9s and even managing some lines that the 2.2 guys had to work for. Super sticky and great looking too. |

Was anyone running hyrax? I'm about to buy tires for a build and am in between the XOR's and the hyrax. Do you have experience with the hyrax Hobbezco?

I have been running Hyrax on my 6X6 and my daily driver since they were released. In my experience, in Maine and the other North Eastern states, the Hyrax are an excellent overall large size trail tire. Great on dirt, stumps and roots, mud cleans out easy, and they do quite well on our rocks (mostly granite). As an overall tire, Hyrax is my go to, as I do mostly long trails, though I have several sets of the newer alien compound Rock Beasts that I keep around for those places where we crawl that are pure rock. We don't do comps in my area so, I cannot comment on performance in that way. | |
