Default Anyone mount 1.9 tires on 2.2 wheels?

I'm curious if anyone else has tried this and what your thoughts are. My local hobby shop thinks it is a bad idea but they aren't particularly creative. You can see the results below and I have been very pleased with the crawling performance. Took a bit of experimenting to find the right foam combination. 1.9 Pit Bull Growlers on 2.2 Vanquish Method 105 wheels with a custom Crawler Innovations two stage foam.

I typically hate "stretching" tires but that setup looks fantastic in your rig!

I find that there are few tires that look good when stretched. In my experience, the ones that do seem to be tires with a square profile, very tame sidewall tread, and are fairly wide for their height.

These are 2 of the better looking examples of stretched tires I have tried:

Axial 1.9 BFG KO2s on SSD 2.2 wheels and the ever popular 1.55 Growlers on Incision 1.9 wheels.

Some of the other tires I have tried stretching like the Vaterra Swampers, Axial Wild Peaks, and Axial Trepadors end up looking distorted and awful when mounted on a larger rim.

There are several threads in the depths of the tire and wheel section about the subject but I'm sure they would only be helpful in showing what a dead Photobucket link looks like at this point.

I gotta admit this made me go cross-eyed for a sec.

in the world of 1:1 I am much more of a car/drifting guy. the only offroad stuff I do is with RC (so far...?) so when I hear things like "stretching" a tire, on a 1:1 car that means to put a skinny tire on a wide wheel.
now take that base of knowledge and say something like "stretch a 1.9 on a 2.2" and im like wait those are diameters?! (realize im still a n00b of sorts, still figuring out what it means to cut/shut, etc...)

so with that said, we are talking about stretching the OPENING or ID of the tire from 1.9 over a 2.2 wheel... right? just trying to get this right because I have been struggling to find a wheel/tire combo for my ascender project, and the answer might be in here somewhere. like stretching a 1.55 over a 1.7? (my pop's 1:1 F-100 didn't have gobs of sidewall)

overall, I agree with the above post. it really depends on the tire, and what foams. then there is the real question: how does it affect performance?

some tires look ridiculous stretched. some look good. if you want a low pro tire, just throw some bandito's on 2.2 rims and snap a picture. I wouldn't stretch 2 sizes up, only go 1 size up. depending on the tire, stiffer foam is required.

Sure, but he didn't ask for pictures. Just if anyone else did it and their thoughts.

here is one I did . its a 1.9 super swamper xl on a bruiser 2012 wheel.

I did not like it , it had a lot of side to side movement on the wheel.
