| 2.2 proline hammers
Going thru some old tires ,I have a set of proline 2.2 hammers mounted on wraith wheels, these have proven to be awesome on my new trx4, question is, being the tires height just a hair under 4.75 my 1.9 hyrax tires are taller! , I still gotta run in the 2.2 class because of some complaints in the 1.9 class, but these tires are pretty short compared with todays 1.9 tires, running in a class of 2.2 tires aint easy cause they are so much taller than my old hammers, its frustrating to run in a class I don't want to run in an don't want to give up these tires, see what iam getting at ?

So run the Hyrax tires that are legal? I'm confused here. The Hammers are specced at 5" and will never be legal in that case.

I am getting put into a class because the rim size an what the tire sidewall says, thinking that's not right, measure the tire height should put you into that class, hammers might be spec,ed at 5 inches but they aint even close to that, like I sayed my hyraxs are taller, but on my trx4 the hammers just work better. other comps gotta be measuring tire height, not what the sidewall says, if you have a 1.9 class tire height say, 4.75 if you are at that or under who cares if you have a 2.2 rim an tire as long as its at the 1.9 class height

Wheel size doesn't matter at all, you can run any wheel in any class. This is quoted straight from the SORCCA rules: Quote:

that's what iam getting at, not real positive what the sidewall says on the hammers but they are shorter than 4.75, but my hyrax mounted is just alttle over than 4.75 an they are sorrca legal, in the 1.9 class, class 2, where my hammers are only allowed in class3, but they are shorter than my hyrax, crazy , oh well.

This really sounds like its up to your individual club. The sorrca rule states its the manufactures designated size not the real life size with fresh foams. Rim size is not an issue if you follow sorrca rules. I couldnt find any info where proline says how tall they are hope some one can find a spec sheet on these im kinda curious now.

Measured them last night, 4. 5/8 inch tall, hyrax was right on at 4.75 inch tall, I printed up the sorrca rules taken them to the next club scale event. iam sure there is other tires out there that are 2.2 but come up short compared to these new 1.9 tires.

svt923 got it right but you could still take the rules and your tires to your club and they may let you run them regardless of the sorrca limit.

I have a set of pro-line hammers, I love them and the sidewall says 2.2 x 4.95, hence they are illegal in class 2

I know this is an old post but I'm in the same situation you are in. Proline hammers are great tires. My local competitions also go by rim size and tire size. Have you found any bigger 2.2 and / or similar size 1.9s that work as good as the hammers? | |
