I have to say that the foams in my new 1.55" rock beasts are very nice. I too am a CI fan but since they don't have single stage foams for 1.55" these are very nice. I've got a set of CI lil'nova dual stage in my 1.55" growlers and they're just a bit too soft for my 10lb scaler. The 1.55" rock beasts with pitbull foams side hill better. Time will tell with break in but it's nice to buy a set of tires and not have to buy foams too. Just my newb $.02

Well...the single stage are being offered in 1.55, 1.9 and 2.2 in Firm, Medium and Soft. I'm sure you will find a combination that works for you considering the same people who designed our tires designed the foams.

The PBX foams, 1.9, would they be firm?
they hold up great on 9 - 10 lb rigs.

That's a great question!

Which firmness comes "stock" with your tires? It feels firm to me.

my 1.55 RB foams felt close to the consistency of a hard boiled egg. they are kinda stiff. im waiting on my ci foams, but im going to order a set of dirty's in soft flavor.

I want to compare them. and since my class 1/0 rig is front heavy im going to run the most firm out of the 2 in the front.

I ran the Dirty Richard Soft Foams in my 1.55 Growlers @ the 2017 RC4WD East Coast Scale Challenge.

They felt Fantastic! I had traction for DAYS!!!!!
Enough traction to climb onto the podium in 1st Place for Class1!

+1 - I had CI foams that I was going to try and fit into my 1.9 PBXs just the other day, but I don't think it was going to work, so I stuck with the included foams. They seem good, especially since my rig is heavy, but I have yet to run them on a course.

I emailed customer service over a week ago asking that exact question. No response. Ended up just having my LHS order 1 of each

"Great" customer service. When a company ignores me I stop ordering from them.

I picked up a set of The DR 1.55 firm for 3.70" tires and they're really nice. I used them in a set of 1.7 Cepek Trail Countrys and they fit great. Now i can actually run these tires. The stock rc4wd foams were riduculously soft and rendered the tires unusable. I read above where hooligan asked about the firmness rating on a set of 1.9 pbx foams and i'd say the stock foams are firm. I have a set of pbx's and their foams are the same material and stiffness as the 1.55 DR firms i jist bought.

Am I correct in assuming that the dual stage(2 piece) foams sold with my 1.9 Mad Beast tires are not Dirty Richards?

They are much too soft for the tire on my nearly stock weight Ascender and dearly need replacing as they literally will fold under on descents.

Are PB’s now being sold with stiffer foams?

Mad Beasts are an old tire. They've been around for a while. Unless Pit Bull made a running change with their foams, which I doubt, I assume you're getting the old two-stage foams. The single stage foams in their new tires are just the opposite - quite hard. So, if you ask me, they still don't have great foams in their tires. The only Pit Bull foams I've liked are those in the original 1.9 Rock Beasts and in 1.55 Rock Beasts where the stiffer foams are great since there isn't much of them that fits in a 1.55 and they are on my heavier TF2.

Gotcha. Based on your description they are the old two stage foams. Ironically they are pretty much useless for the tires they came with. I hope I somehow purchased old stock because it would be pretty sad if PB is still packaging them this way. Thanks for the insight Jato. I ordered a set of single stage CI foams to try out. Natedog suggested them in my Ascender thread and it seems they are some of the better ones out there if not the best.

Did you order the closed-cell, single stage foams? I found them way too stiff for my stock Ascender tires.
