Pro-Line Racing 1.4 x 4.19 - 1.9PL Hyrax

It looks like ProLine is coming out with a smaller Hyrax for the scale snobs.
They don't say it's Hyrax, but it sure looks like it. I'm sure it won't be "scale enough" since it's not based on a real tire.

Talk among yourselves!

Should be a step in the comp world with the 4.19 regulation size for class 1. Funny thing is Ottsix has a 4.19 regulation tire and it's an ongoing debate about which is the better tire KLR or Hyrax...

I really don't think Ottsix KLR tires are that popular anymore. Am I wrong? They were the flavor of the month. I tried them and was woefully disappointed.

Oh people swear by them and are very loyal to the brand for some odd reason. Never tried them myself, but the companies owners put a bad taste in my stomach, so I don't think I will ever get a set. Also, it's not a new design they come out with, just different compounds and sizes to keep their fan-base happy.

I think a lot of people agree with that.

And they expect you to cut the tread to your terrain. :lmao:

A lot of the guys in our club still run KLR for scale in Class 1 and 2. I think the top 3 trucks from this season all ran KLR except one of the guys switched to Pitbull Rock Beast XL for the last comp. I love Voodoo Pins but wasn't in love with any of the KLR tires. I run Pitbull for Class 1 and 2 right now. That could change if a 4.19 Hyrax becomes a real thing.

KLR's don't work well on WV trails. Lots of throttle is needed and that doesn't fit my driving style. I am surprised the Hyrax would be PL's debut 1.5 tire though..... I will stick with my Pitbulls, RC4wd 1.7 MTR's and TSL's.

These are still 1.9's, not 1.55's.

I'm sure I will end up with a set since I am a hoarder of tiny tires.

If they scaled down the lugs for the smaller diameter then they would look scale enough for me. The regular Hyrax looks like a super siped KR2s much more than KLRs look like the cut Treps they are supposed to be derived from.

I'm hoping for some appropriately sized PL dual stage inserts to go along with these because CI's 4.25 dual stage inserts always overstuff C1 tires.

I'm assuming its a Hyrax as well but I just find it an odd decision. Surely if PL searched their inbox they'd have way more results for "4.19 Swamper" than Hyrax, right? I swear scalers have been asking for those for a long time now.

You'd think more people would want the TSLs, but they aren't their latest and greatest product. Mini TSLs would look better IMHO.

I'm really hoping they are 1.55 TSL's.

I would be for 1.55 KO2s as well.

There are so many scale builds that would look right with tiny BFG all terrains.

The KO2 tires look great, but they don't look like they'd perform all that well in the East Coast woods terrain where things can get wet and muddy. How do they work for you?

Likely a direct competitor for the 1.55 rock beast. Without them have to make new wheels.

Nailed it, I was really hoping for a smaller Bogger instead of that gigantic 5.4 in. size. They just look too funny on a 1.9, too much sidewall profile and too skinny. A 4.35 or better yet an 4.50 Bogger and BFG Krawler Ta would hit it for a lot of us. Rc4wd makes a liscensed Bogger (not just mud slinger) in a more subtle size but I don't like the compound. Bloggers do very well on the rocks too, people underestimate them. Time will tell. I was hoping for a TSL Thorn bird from PL. Rc4wd gave us the Denman Ground Hawg.

The east coast mid-Atlantic red indian clay calls for an aggressive tire for sure. TSLs, iroks and wrangler MTZs get it done for a lot of us.

The KO2s work much better than you would assume by looking at them. They don't throw dirt and mud like a Swamper but they clean out quickly and have lots of biting edges for traction. I never though they held back my Ascender due to lack of traction.

We must have more grip in the dirt a little further south because a decent all terrain will get you anywhere a more aggressive tire will when it's dry. Nearly all the off road instructors I have met run KO2s on their personal trucks. When it's muddy, it doesn't matter what tires you run because they become tractionless mud balls quickly. Boggers don't have enough tread to shed the mud around here.

+1 on the foams and I'm a tire addict myself. I say bring them all on big or small. Can't ever have too many tire selections imo. I remember the days when there were none. Man back then a set of rc4wd Rock Crushers were the shit. Or even better the day Rok Lox hit the scene. Everyone had a set of those. lol
