Default 1.9 RC4WD Rims With Crawler Innovations Deuce's Wild Foams

Hey guys, so I just got my new Crawler Innovations single stage foams for the 1.9 Pitbull mad Beast tires from the mail today. I went to install them onto my 1.9 RC4WD wagon wheels with the Axial Maxxas Trepador tires, and the bead is really hard to seat.

Has this happened to any one before? Is it normally this difficult?

Thanks

It usually is not an issue. However, if your clamp ring is narrower than the flat area on the inside of the foam, this could fight you during assembly. An easy way to remedy the issue is to sand the inner foam away at an angle, to create a smooth surface to the clamp ring. This can be done with a simple nail file, sand paper, a dremel with sanding drum attachment, or similar methods.

Over the 2017 summer, many of the CI design profiles were changed to leave more material around the clamp ring area to prevent the inner foams from sliding / shifting on the bead lock. This new design profile fills the tire more complete, preventing shifting on side hills.

Is this the correct width?

Yes, that is correct.
Notice how the side profile of the foam delivers the sidewall of the tire to the clamp ring. If there was any flat area of the foam protruding over the clamp ring, that would push against the tire side wall impeding it from mounting to the clamp ring.
Thank you for the picture, that makes it much easier.
