Used tires, but really haven't found any worth while new tires for under 25 for 2. Not sure the price but the duratrax deepwoods or showdown are some good cheap tires. Worth looking in to. From what I have read the ascender tsl is a pretty decent tire. Why do you want to change them? |

Fake Super Swamper tires from eBay ($12 for four - search: Austar tire); they wear quick on some surfaces (plywood) but grip better than Hyrax in this test: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=UyomOcobWWI You can get 'em with cheap plastic or alloy wheels too. |

Another vote for Duratrax Deep woods - I believe mine cost about $20 per pair CDN at my LHS, so the USD price should be less.

I'll put my Proline Hyrax tires up against the knockoffs any day. Proline tires ARE cheap. I fail to see how people are in this hobby if they can't afford $50 for good tires. Tires, after all, are the only part of your truck that meets the terrain under normal conditions. If there is any part that you shouldn't cheap out on it's the tires.

I understand max 20 for 2 but if you go just 10 over you could get some pit bull growlers that are amazing or when rc4wd has sales I got my super swampers for 12 each Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Even when I posted my original answer I had not yet realized that OP is also from Canada. Something for everyone to keep in mind. Duratrax or one of the China Ebay specials are going to be the only thing in his price range. Online - the best deal I have seen for Proline tires would be about $32 Canadian from rcmart with free shipping. I have yet to see any other tires under $36 CDN online. Most Pitbull, RC4WD etc are in the $40 and up range per pair. I have plenty of hobby shops within an hour's drive and they usually have better prices than I can find online for tires, but I am in Ontario, not BC. |

The Duratrax tires are a good option for inexpensive tires. My dad has some Duratrax tires and they surprised me out on the trail.

Duratrax showdowns or deep woods are best at that price range no question about it. Pick which ever speaks to you.

Thanks for all the info. I have decided not to cheap out, and get some quality tires because like JatoTheRipper sayd, they are the only part that meets the terrain.

Duratrax does make quality tires, they just also happen to be cheap. I've out crawled rock beasts and Klrs with my showdowns.

I do have the Duratrax Showdowns in 2.2. They work well for the money, but they are a huge 2.2 so require a large foam.

Check out sikrides they are a shop in vegas that do awesome builds and sell tires that they only used for a photo shoot or have very little time on them. Not sure what they have but the selection is always changing. I think it’s SRDLV.com or just google sikrides Las Vegas Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Congrats! Nice looking XJ, from the condition of the body the competition must have been tough! Looks great all scuffed up and weathered...
