| Proline tires, SSD wheels
I have a set of SSD steel trail 1.9 wheels which claim "fit all tire brands" however doing some searching revealed that some people have had issues with some of the proline tires fitting these wheels such as the Flat Iron XL. Just thought I'd ask because the Flat Iron and Krawler T/A KX are the two tires I am considering and I want to ensure compatibility before making a purchase. Thank you

SSD sells wheels meant to work with proline tires. Just make sure you're paying attention when you buy them. Think they have blue internal rings, but may not always be the case.

From what I found the blue rings were for their 2.2 wheels.

Yep, strangely enough SSD doesn't show any 1.9" products that are specifically for Proline but has Proline versions of practically all of their 2.2"-sized wheels. They even sell the Proline adaptor rings in a 2.2" size separately... |

SSD has stated on these forums that their 1.9 wheels do NOT require a special ring, because they work with all common brand tires. I've mounted them to Proline, Vaterra, Pitbull, and RC4WD tires myself without any issue. If you can't make them work, your mounting method needs to be changed. They will fit. Their 2.2 wheels DO however have the option of the blue rings which are Proline tire specific, and they mount great. They will not work with stock Bomber tires, I can confirm that. They pull right out! |

My personal experience with 1.9 SSD wheels is they work with any tire, and easily, even the dreaded Pro-Line that confound mounting on other brands.

Just mounted last week. Used some Windex and everything slid right together. |

I have two sets of SSD rims. One with Hyrax and one with TSL swampers. No issues on either set.

Their 1.9 wheels mount onto Proline tires easier than anything else I've tried. I just mounted TSL XL 1.9's with CI Foams onto SSD 1.9 Rock Racers while watching TV with my fiance last night - they mount easy. |
