Default Savage Wheels On Clod Axles

Hey,

I'm interested in the idea of mounting Savage rims & tires onto clod axles. I know that there is some company (thundertech?) that makes an adapter to allow for the swap.

Has anyone here done this swap, or heard anything about it? How much of a differrence is there in a stock Clod rim vs a stock Savage rim? Will the adapters help widen the truck, or do they maintain a stock width footprint?

I really like the stock Savage tires (and those seriously sweet Imex crawlers comin' out soon.....), and I'd like to mount them on Clod axles..........I just don't want it to mess up the steering or reduce the overall width too much (yesss I know the tires are narrower).

Help.

Bribe,

ThunderTech Racing makes an adaptor to run the Maxx/Savage wheels. http://www.thundertechracing.com/adapters.htm

I have never seen a set in person but from the picture it looks like the adaptors keep the ouside width the same. Unless that picture is with offset wheels. That would be a good question to post in the ThunderTech forum on this site.

I have a set of aluminum adaptors built by Ace that keep the inside edge of the tire at the same point as stock. This narrows the truck slightly. Stock clod is listed as 14.96" wide, The Duke is 13.75" wide with Savage tires and Imex Outlaw wheels.

This setup made the steering better on The Duke cuz the tires dont stick out so far past the steering knuckle.

TTR isn't the only people that have adapters, 12mm to 14mm...

InetRC has 'em too, and about half the price:

Them InetRC adaptors look like they'd shrink the width of the axle alot, unless you used offset wheels like they mention.

I was thinking of making some more sets like the ones Grizz is running and trying to sell them. I dunno might not be worth the effort. If I do it, I would offer several widths of offset so people could get the overall width that they want. What do you guys think?

The Inet adaptors are very nice, I forgot about them.
They are designed to be used with their wideners or offset wheels according to what I read so cost would probably even out unless you already had the offset wheels or a SUPER narrow chassis 8O . I'd like to see that.

Ace's adaptors are super nice, I'll get some pics since I am running the only set he has right now.
