| Best 1.9 Snow Tires
I’ve been on the search for the best scale 1.9 tires for snow over the past year and have finally found a winner. Here’s the tires I’ve tested on my SCX10 over the past year. Stock Maxxis Trepadors: - worst grip - narrow width and large diameter help to cut into the snow (not good for my heavy rig) - 1/6 snow rating Trepadors with snow chains: - the chains obviously increase the grip on the snow and the large diameter of the tires work great for clearance - 5/6 snow rating Goodyear 3.89” Goodyear Duratracs: - nice little scale tires with awesome grip - small diameter are horrible for snow clearance - great scale rock tires for summer weather - 0/6 snow rating 4.19 Goodyear MT/Rs: - my favorite sized tires for the look I was going for with my Jeep build - awesome grip (especially on rocks during summer weather) - small diameter is not great for snow clearance - 3/6 snow rating 4.19” Goodyear MT/Rs with snow chains: - the snow chains increase the grip on the snow better but still the smaller tire diameter isn’t great for deep snow - 4/6 snow rating And finally, 4.45” Pit Bull Xtreme Rock Beasts: - wide tires allow for better floatation on the snow - 4.45” is the perfect diameter for clearance and the scale look I was looking for the Jeep - the best grip on snow. Can dig through almost anything compared to the other tires I’ve tested. - I’ve yet to install the chains on these tires but given their performance, I don’t think I’ll be needing the chains on these tires. - 6/6 snow rating So if you’re looking for a scale 1.9 tire for snow, I highly recommend the Pit Bull Xtreme Rock Beast scale tires! I'll bet that Pitbull Rock Beast XORs would be even better. They're super wide, and their open lug pattern should clean out pretty well. I just picked up some 2.2s for my yeti that I can try out.

Pitbull xors!!! Gmade bighorns too work fairly well but if you can afford the xors are the way to go the 2.2s are 2.5" wide and the 1.9s are 1.9" wide lmao have a set in either size the 2.2s are super super soft where as the 1.9 are way more firm Sent from my LG-M703 using Tapatalk |

Hmmm..Had the Rock beasts out today, while they were OK, I was wishing I had my Swamper TSL's... the wider lug spacing helps fling out the snow

You wanna float on top of deep snow and cut down through lesser amounts of snow. I think RC4WD Mud Basher tires would be great for lesser amounts of snow, especially if you have snow slinging power. |

For my snow runs I have been pretty happy with Pro Line TSL XL in Predator compound. Crawler Innovations Lil Novas with the outer stage removed and non vented. Trying to replicate 5 PSI and maximize footprint and flotation, while that inner stage still gives it some structure. This is a snow only setup. |

I don't know what the best tires are. It seems no matter what I use on a crawler, they pack with snow. There just isn't the wheel speed to clear them. Shot this vid of my Ascender the other day. I am running Pit Bull Mad Beast. I have been thinking I might clip some of the lugs to open the tread a little. I am just mounting up a set of Hyrax to try out in the snow Last edited by smog; 01-24-2019 at 07:25 PM. |

Let me know why you think of the Hyrax in actual snow. So far I have only had ice covered snow to try. | |

| Re: Best 1.9 Snow Tires Will do. Might be a delay on the test,, but will post it up. The Hyrax are so wide it was a pain in the azz to mount them the steelies I have, so I ended up putting on some RC4WD MTR's on them. I believe you have already tested them out but will post up on them as well.

Boggers are ok. Probably do alot better on a truck that has some wheel speed. And stuck! |
