Interesting. We'll see. If they work, they work. If not....

I could see that design working well for RC rock crawlers.

Until you get little pebbles in some of the holes - wheel balance and deformability will then be seriously affected...

I was thinking more along the lines of catching a sharp edge on the sidewall and tearing some of the honeycomb where a normal smooth sidewall would slide across. I like the idea, but having it exposed isn't likely the answer.

It's certainly not good for all conditions, but some people us their crawlers in pretty controlled conditions, like on indoor courses, or areas that are mostly large rock / slickrock. Many don't drive fast enough for balance to be a concern.

That said, keeping debris out of the cells I believe is an important consideration for the mainstream success of this style of tire, either in the 1:1 or RC world. Snow, ice, mud, and other debris frequently comes into contact with tires.

They might have vented sidewalls when released to the public. I'd definitely try them that way, but the exposed honeycomb is much less appealing.

Wow. Yeah, I thought there was a revolutionary car tire of that concept. [shrug]

Hmm, I'm very interested to see how this goes. I could see it working really well; or not at all..

Ya that and getting a stick or pointy rock hooked inside the honeycomb tires.

Great points and agreed.

I like the look of current sidewalls, got lots of foam tuning available and scissors/Dremel to do more.

They work great on some slow speed heavy equipment from what I've seen, but crawlers mmmmm I'll pass.

Its interesting for sure, I wonder if they simply left the sides off so we could see whats going on. I'm guessing they would have sides when released but who knows.

EDIT: Harley looked at these a bit in his latest video and mentioned Proline isn't very sure whether these will come to market or not.

Doesn't look like a mass market thing, more of a one-off just to try it.

I guess the rocks in the holes wasn't a big concern
