Scale hardware for “Chanquish” wheels & VP style hubs?

Recently purchased some LURC M3 scale bolts for my “Chanquish” wheels and quickly realized they won’t work.

The holes in the wheel are too tight for the bolt and tool as seen below:

The only solution I can think of is switching to Vanquish hubs and using LURC 4-40 acorn nuts. (As suggested on their website)

Anyone have another solution???

Nope. VP Hubs and the 4-40 Acorns is exactly what I would do. Plus the acorns look better as lug nuts.

LockedUP makes these specific screws to fit in those recesses on Vanquish wheels. Notice they require a 2.5mm nut driver. The other versions of this hardware that require a 3mm nut driver won't work.

4-40 x .25" FLANGE Acorn Wheel Studs

Good info guys!

ARE the hubs interchangeable? I didn’t even think of asking...

EDIT: Jato - Found your response to another thread, and the PCD should be the same.

so NOW for 2 sets of wheels id have to spend $65 just on SLW hubs... What the hell...

So I found these on Amazon. (Basic Asian hubs that my wheels came with) except read the middle part about “available for SLW hubs” and using 4-40 hardware?

I believe M3 will thread into 4-40 and vice versa. It may just screw up the threads, but if it's once and done, with some thread lock, it should be fine.

I've used 4-40 scale lugs in the no-name SLW hubs before. They are a bit tight the first go but then easy. It has never been a problem for me.

Re: Scale hardware for “Chanquish” wheels & VP style hubs?

I was gonna ask if I could shoe horn them in, but feared I’d be mocked... lol.

While I’m on LURC site, Anyone know if the “Ultra hubs - cover style” fit these wheels?
http://www.lockeduprc.com/Ultra-Hubs...yle_p_904.html

The hubs are 10.2mm wide but I don’t have an accurate gauge to measure the opening in my wheels.

Either way folks, tremendous help! Thank you...

Re: Scale hardware for “Chanquish” wheels & VP style hubs?

Those "locking" hubs won't fit on your sawback axles (at least I'm assuming that's what you're trying to use them on, based on your other recent posts), there's just not enough thread sticking out on your stub shafts. However, these: Ultra Hubs - Front M4 should work.

I haven’t gotten that far yet with the Sawback build, but good looks! Thank you. These 2 sets of wheels are actually going on my BOM and Gelande2 JK. So the G2 will require the ones you pointed out, which may be too wide for the “Chanquish” wheels...

I read "suggested for snowman" on the hub compatibility list and was stuck for a sec, trying to think of what the heck rig that could be before it hit me...

YETI!

Ssd hardware fits the rings. I used them to put vp rings on my chanquish wheels

I used SSD M2x5 scale bolts.

NOTE: The SSD tool (bit) for the bolts is literally a hair too thick to fit the opening of the "Chanquish" rings. I had to file the sides of the bit down some. This probably isn't the same for REAL Vanquish or other similar rings... just my experience with the ebay ones.

ALSO: I used an M3 button head to start the tiny m2x5 bolts in. They fit in the head perfectly and make the process rather pleasant. JUST DONT FORGET which ones need to be properly "torqued" down as the button head doesn't allow you to! [see below]

ALSO confirming that the above mentioned Acorn nuts work on these wheels and DO thread into the “Chanquish” metric VP/SLW style hubs (this part isn’t as pleasant/therapeutic though... lol) it takes a tiny bit of tighten/loosen but minimal resistance still. And the eBay replacement hubs are like $6-10 if you really mangle them somehow :-D

Nope now I remember I had to turn down my tool a bit to fit in the vanquish rings on mine. Maybe just for my specific ring but I did have to do it [emoji6]

How did you turn down the bit? I ended up having to do it by hand and now I've got Popeye thumb muscles.

I was able to get 2 full sets of wheels in one sitting but the bit finally stripped, so Ive got to use one of the other supplied bits, so any tips?
